How do i grease ball joints on a 94 Chevy Blazer 4wd and what do i need?
I dont have much money seeing thats its Christmas Eve and i really need this done. Husband goes into work in a few hours and hes coming with to get tools and supplies and to get me started on this. I would like to know the cheapest way and most convenient way to do this! Everytime i turn (a lil or a lot) my car and steering wheel makes this grinding sound and feel. Im not 100% its the ball joint but my bro-in-law works on cars and told me b4 this sound came about that i need the ball joints greased. My second guess something as simple as power steering fluid. My last car always needed it but it whinned the whole time i was driving not only when i turned. Can some1 please help me confirm that its the ball joints that need to be greased and the best, cheapest solution or advice? Please and thank u so much for any great help! (For the sake of me and my family's Christmas, i dont want my ball joints to beak 2day or on Christmas, had my ball joints break and was the worst feeling with no money for a tow)

Loving,
On the ball join itself, you will see a small metal tube (zero fitting) coming out of the top of the joint. Most likely it's covered in grease and dirt, so it may take some searching to find.
Advance auto has a really inexpensive grease gun that you can order online and pick up at the store...use the coupon code on the site to save a few bucks.
In addition to ordering the grease gun, you will need to buy grease as well. Advance auto and other parts stores sell grease in a tube...it's pretty cheap $5 - $8.
Buy those two items and grease you ball joints and u joints...can probably be done for about $30.
However, the creaking noise might be coming front the power steering pump. Check the fluid level before you go to the parts store....if its low, pick up power steering fluid at the store (this can also be ordered online and picked up she you get there)
Check out GMC4x4.com if you are interested. It's a GMC / Chevy site with lots of knowledgable guys that can g I've you some more ideas.
Hope this helps!

I don't think the ball joints were greasable, but I have made some temporary repairs by drilling an 1/8 inch hole in the ball joint boot, and using a can of white lithium grease with the long plastic wand on it, fill the boot with grease, should get rid of the squeaks, and make it move a tad easier!
Once they get that tight to make the power steering squeal, they probably do need replaced, but the grease will be a quick, temporary fix!

Some vehicles have zerks on the joints you can grease but most of the newer ones do not.
You should take it to a lube shop and have them check to see if they can be lubed.
You may call a mechanic you trust and ask them if what you have been told is true.
