Macbook Pro or Retina Macbook Pro?
I want the 13" macbook pro and I really need a new laptop. I want a mac so don't suggest another laptop. but which one is worth it? and should i really spend 500$ more for the retina version? i like how its slim and lightweight. I need this for school work.. web surfing. and video / photo editing.

If you really want a Mac for photo video editing and not just to look cool in front of other people like most people do. Go with the regular MacBook Pro but the high end version with the best specs not the base model. A MacBook retina is not worth I unless you get a 15in the specs in the 13in retina are a rip off. If your serious about video photo get MBP but the best model will still be a little cheaper than retina I think.

Get the "normal" MacBook Pro. You need a lot of storage for video and photo editing, and with the money you've saved from the Retina, get a set of applications that do a great job with your editing, and max out your laptop - 2.9 GHz, 8 GB RAM, etc. Retina is overrated (though it might be a better fit for you then many others). Go with the non-Retina Pro.

I recommend just the MacBook Pro seeing as how they both have a really awesome displays. The MacBook Pro is still quite slim and lightweight. I love macs for video editing by the way!

Well I think the regular display is not a problem. It is not worth it to pay 500 more for a macbook retina.
I hope it works.

If the extra clear screen is an important factor, get the retina display. But if you're willing to give that one thing up, the "normal" one still has a DVD player, and I don't know if te retina display does. Also, you'd be saving money to get the old one
