Can a clean, elecrtric oven explode?
My wife had a gallon pot cooking tomatoes, vodka, onions, garlic, salt etc in the oven at 375 degrees for 15 minutes when there was a boom, and the oven door was blown open. The pot was covered with a glass lid, which was still on the pot. There was no sauce residue on the inside of it.what could have caused this explosion?

I agree with the first ans., however I have had two oven door glass windows shatter for no reason other than heat. The first was in pre heat mode with nothing in the oven, the second was in clean mode with nothing in the oven. Mfr replaced both at no cost to me. In both cases there was no explosion as such, just a loud snap as the glass fragmented.

The alcohol vaporized into the oven and was ignited. NEVER heat alcohol in an oven.

The alcohol ignited. Your wife is a real dumbass to do such a thing. Was she thinking?
