PERIOD HELP! Girls only.?
I've had my period for 3/4 of a year and am freaking out because in a couple of days I am going to the beach for two weeks and my period is due the first week. I really don't want to sit out and I have never used a tampon. We would be at the beach for about 4 hrs at a time, I'm scared if I wear a pad (with boardies over the top) that after I get out and sit on the beach that my pad will be too full to absorb any more blood. We would be jumping in and out of pool and beach all day! HELP ME! I'm really scared to use a tampon so I don't think I will but any other suggestions?

you close up when you're in the water, take off the pad right before you swim and go to the bathroom right after you stop swimming and put a new one on, you won't have bled

You can not use a pad while you are swimming even if you have board shorts or another pair of bottoms on. Pads are meant to absorb liquids so it will become very heavy and saturated from the water which means that it won't be doing it's job of absorbing any lost blood. It will also resemble that of a wet diaper which isn't a pleasant feeling. They aren't meant to be worn in any type of water including the ocean, swimming pools, showers. You must use a tampon if you want to go swimming; there isn't another option. It isn't santiary to go swimming without a pad or tampon either because you are spreading your blood to others that are also swimming. Tampons were invented for the purpose of getting in the water and doing other physical activities.
Don't let your period ruin the vacation. Your period is going to come at much more inconvenient times in your life. You must learn to use tampons and adapt to having a period. It isn't going to just magically go away. Have fun on your beach trip even if you do get your period. It isn't the end of the world, girl!

If you're actually going in the water you need to use something internal...
- Tampon.
- Soft tampon.
- Sponge.
- Softcup.
- Diaphragm.
- Menstrual cup.
Cups are the best option as they're far safer and more hygienic than tampons so no risks of TSS, infections, increased cramps or dioxin - menstrual cups also can be worn with any flow for 12 hours, nothing shows outside your body, they don't absorb water, and don't leak like tampons. You CANNOT use pads in the water as blood would bypass the pad, the pad would become saturated, and if you're using disposable pads rather than cloth pads they'll go soggy and come unstuck.
