My pulse oxy is never above 94.?

I eat lots of whole grains, beans, vegies and fruits. I also take daily vitamins that my MD recommends. I wonder if it is a cause of my patent foramen ovale or sleep apnea (I use autopap machine every night) as I have read online that these can lower blood oxygen. Any ideas on how to raise my blood oxy levels?

Assuming that the readings are accurate a pulse oximeter reading an SpO2 of 94% and lower likely means that your PAP treatment is not doing very well, that you are having respiratory events at night.

This would likely make you dull during the day - and - if you willfully breath a bit harder (just a bit) you will find that the dullness lifts a bit.

I use SleepyHead (Google "sleepyhead sourceforge") to analyze my data from my CPAP every few days so I know if my CPAP therapy is working. Check and see that you have a data capable machine.

It is also possible that you are blocking the vent near the entrance to the mask device. The vent must not be blocked as the vent allows the air you breath out to escape so you then breath fresh air from the machine.

Source(s): 9 years using CPAP the last couple of which have been with data monitoring. One year using a pulse oximeter at night and during the day to guide me to breath more eucapnically.
