My pulse oxy is never above 94.?
I eat lots of whole grains, beans, vegies and fruits. I also take daily vitamins that my MD recommends. I wonder if it is a cause of my patent foramen ovale or sleep apnea (I use autopap machine every night) as I have read online that these can lower blood oxygen. Any ideas on how to raise my blood oxy levels?
1 AnswerHeart Diseases8 years agohomemade dental treats?
I have two Chihuahuas; the larger, older one eats any treat she can get her mouth on, so she has no problem with Greenies or any other dental chewy, but the other one has a small head and mouth and refuses to put out the work that even the smallest Greenies (I just use this as a generic term) require. I've tried even the more expensive "heathier" brands, but he won't give more than a couple of chews and drop them on the floor, whence his "sister" scavenges them up and devours them. I was thinking of trying to make something just a little bit softer so he will eat them, but still hard and tough enough to clean his teeth. Any ideas for homemade dental chew recipes out there? BTW, his flatulence is pretty stinky, so I intend to add chlorophyll drops, seaweed/kelp or lots of parsley to any recipe to help out there too.
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoAm I obese or just overweight?
I have looked at a number of sites to find out how overweight I am. My MD thinks I don't need to lose any weight, but I know otherwise. My BMI is 25.5, but I have a bit of a belly. So I looked at a number of sites to calculate my body fat. The various calculators range from 26% (just a bit overweight) to 32% (obese). Calculators have everything in between at 27, 28 and 30. I thought the Navy would have a good calculator and it said 28%, indicating I need to lose about 10 pounds and 3" around the waist. What gives?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhy does my new puppy pass so much stinky gas?
We added a 5 month old Chihuahua Ital Greyhound to our family last week. We were given some of his food and have been mixing it for him with the food we have been feeding our other Chi. She rarely passes stinky gas. So two dogs of the same breed, same food; one stinks the other doesn't. What do we do to get him to tame down the odors?
Btw, the older dog eats slowly and deliberately; the new guy gobbles his food, if that makes any difference.
2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoLittle suite vs. vivaldi guitar, which came first?
I have heard the 1st movement of Bach's Little Suite a zillion times, but just heard the 2nd movement for the first time the other day on allclassical.org. I was quite surprised that it sounded strikingly similar to a Vivaldi guitar piece that I have. I am just wondering which came first and if they had some collaboration or...??? on their compositions.
1 AnswerClassical1 decade agoI would like vs. I will like?
I have been putting ads up online and get responses that include the phrase
I will like to
when in my dialect it would clearly be
I would like to
Is there any native English speakers' dialect that uses " I will like to" do something?
The reason I ask is that I often for awhile responders were openly from Nigeria or near there with scam offers; then the same kinds of scam offers were coming from England ( I could tell by the country code of the phone numbers); now they seem more discreet with this kind of accent. I don't want to turn away sincere replies, but neither do I want to respond to scammers.
By they way, they are now using names that appear to be traditional English origin names; whereas in the past they seemed more doubtful.

2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIs my fish sick or is this normal?
I have a pond with 3 goldfish (comets) and 2 koi. I got them all at the same time, but one of the koi is almost 2ce as big as the other, even though they were the same size at time of purchase. The people at Hugh's Water Gardens said I had too many fish, but that if I installed a filter it would be all right. I got the size they recommended; they said I didn't need the next larger size.
The fish seem to be all right–no odd behavior or anything, but the larger koi seems to have markings I hadn't noticed before. It is like an orange lined down its spine. It is very faint and narrow, and pretty much only along the dorsal fin. Is this fish all right?
6 AnswersFish1 decade agoA full quart of pesto!?
I was given a quart of frozen pesto (actually two 1-quart packs). Don't get me wrong, I really like pesto, but it says on the pack that once thawed you have to use it up within 7 days. Now that's a LOT of pesto to consume in only one week. I don't really like throwing food away, so I'd like to use it up before it goes bad. One suggestion was to use it on pizza, but we have family members that don't like pizza. Any ideas on how to use a full quart of pesto in only one week?
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow best to trim black nails?
My dog has black nails, so I can't see the quick. My previous dogs were a samoyed and border collie, both with white nails, easy to find their quick. People have told me that the grinders (e.g. PediPaws and Dremel) freak out the dogs too much from their noise. I checked out one of the Quick Finders, but was told the guillotine type often split nails and they don't get close enough to the quick. Any ideas on the best way to find the quick on black nails?
7 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow can I teach my dog not to shred kleenex?
My dog is an angel in all respects except one. She isn't the usual yappy chihuahua, but she likes to play a lot. But sometimes she gets into the waste baskets and pulls out the kleenex and shreds it. I don't think she eats it, but just leaves a mess. Don't tell me that I should leave it out of her reach. I think it is better to have a strategy for training her.
