Little suite vs. vivaldi guitar, which came first?
I have heard the 1st movement of Bach's Little Suite a zillion times, but just heard the 2nd movement for the first time the other day on allclassical.org. I was quite surprised that it sounded strikingly similar to a Vivaldi guitar piece that I have. I am just wondering which came first and if they had some collaboration or...??? on their compositions.

Bach and Vivaldi never met or collaborated. However, Vivaldi was the older composer and Bach was aware of his work and respected it a great deal and Vivaldi was a huge influence on Bach. The Guitar piece you mention is probably the Guitar Concerto in D RV93 - transcribed from an original Lute Concerto. It was written in 1716. The Music which comprises Bach's 'Little Suite' comes from the mid 1720s, so Vivaldi came first. Also, Bach didn't write any original guitar music - all the pieces available for guitar now are transcriptions of lute suites or keyboard pieces (usually).
