Why does my new puppy pass so much stinky gas?
We added a 5 month old Chihuahua Ital Greyhound to our family last week. We were given some of his food and have been mixing it for him with the food we have been feeding our other Chi. She rarely passes stinky gas. So two dogs of the same breed, same food; one stinks the other doesn't. What do we do to get him to tame down the odors?
Btw, the older dog eats slowly and deliberately; the new guy gobbles his food, if that makes any difference.
The food he came with was Iams. Not the best, so that's why we are changing it gradually by mixing it. His new diet is Evo red bits for small dogs kibble and Evanger's in the small cans. That's what has worked best for the older dog, so thot it would work for him, too.

Eating his food too fast could be the cause of the gas problem with your new puppy. Try putting a small amount of food in his bowl and slowly add more food to it. You can also get a bowl that is shaped like the letter O. You put the food around in the circle and it makes it harder for the dog to eat fast. You are smart to change him to a better food. The Iams could be adding to his gas problem, too.
