Rabbit question please help!?
I'm taking care of my friend's rabbits and she's on a cruise so I can't contact her. It got unusually cold and snowy today in Texas and she usually keeps her rabbits outside in a large crate type thing. After asking some people I know with rabbits they said it was too cold for them and I should put them inside. So I found an old cage of theirs and put it in the garage with some towels, hay, and their water but no mulch or anything. Do you think they'll be ok for the night? It's supposed to get warmer tomorrow so I'll move them back out but is a towel sufficient for when they poop? I'll just throw the towels away after. Thanks.

It'd be cold for the rabbits you have there, I can understand that. Usually cold doesn't bother them way too much, rabbits are pretty content with huddling up.
The rabbits should be fine, even without the towel honestly.
If you have the towel in there, just be sure they do not chew it. Cotton sheets (with no threads) would be a lot better, but you gotta make due with what you got. Towels are horrible with rabbits because they're known to cause blockages, which can kill them or cause a huge vet bill and a lot of pain.
But if you give them enough hay they might not pay any attention to the towel. I honestly wouldn't take the chance, they can generally rough it out for at least one night with only hay. But yes, the towels are fine for absorbing and all that. Their poop isn't really soft unless they don't eat their 'night poo' and they just let it sit there.
But towels are fine, just don't let them eat it.
I'd seriously just layer the hay and call it good, without the towel. It'll let their urine down to the bottom, it's only for one night so it'd be fine.

OMG IM FROM TEXAS TOO! and I can't believe it it actually snowed I hope it ices over night LOL.
What mulch? Towels are okay if they aren't chewers. Rabbits can stand temperatures below freezing but personally, even if they can stand it, are they happy? Most likely no.

Towels aren't very good for bunnies beacuse they shred the fabric and eat it. Bunnies have easily upset digestive systems; it would be best to use hay or shavings until they're back in their cage :) good luck
