Is the New Age religious Taoism?
I stumbled upon a theory using my psychic abilities and hypothesized that the New Age may be another name for religious Taoism and that its musical genre is "New Age." I know the term "new age" describes a lot of things (including Zen Buddhism), but how does this make sense? I am a religious Taoist, but if anyone calls me a "New Ager," I am going to have a man-to-man talk with him (or man-to-woman if the person is female). If you have any decent advice, then let me know.

Think of the term "New Age" as a massive umbrella which covers a vast amount of things from religions that are not Christianity all the way down to the dreamy music section of a music store. Someone could lump Taoism under that umbrella the same way a non-Christian can lump all of Christianity under one umbrella even though the individual sects are very different. You can get offended by the term but what it really relates to is the Age of Aquarius. Hence "new age".

They call it 'New Age' but that doesn't refer to the actual religions. Taoism/Buddhism existed long before christianity/islam/judaism

No.
New Age is castrated soccer-mom faux-"spirituality" that is largely pointless.
