Why does this keep happening? Why me?

So I have the traditional braces with the brackets and ties and wires. I go in every month to get them tightened or worked on. This is my 5th month with braces on. I keep breaking brackets too. It's not even when

I'm eating either. The brackets always break when I'm caring for them, I am caring for them properly too.

I follow everything the orthodontist says with care. I never cheat either with things she says you can and can't have. Some people say that the cement on the braces wears off from sugar and stuff. Like if you eat lots of sugar. Is this true? Do you think I have to much sugar for them if I have a cup of juice every morning, ice cream or some other type of dessert every other night, and only have one can of soda on the weekends? (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Can anyone give me any tips on how not to break brackets or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks so much people who have serious answers. People who answer and actually answer seriously can I ask you other questions about braces?

Your right, sugar-containing foods can weaken cement beneath the bands, causing bands to loosen and cause cavities. Other types of foods you should avoid are sticky foods, hard foods, husk foods, and chewing gum.

I had traditional braces for two years and they're finally off! I'm 15 now haha:) I broke brackets off a few times and I really don't know how either. I didn't chew gum or eat much candy...I did drink soda but not much. I knew people who chewed gum and never wore their rubber bands and didn't floss (lol I never flossed actually) and had no problems and got their braces off when they were supposed to.

It might just be theyre still settling in and are vulnerable and will break easily. After a couple more months hopefully they stop braking. You didn't mention how many brackets have broken off???

That sugar thing sounds highly unlikely because I eat so much sugar ( i wish I didn't ) and have no problems and I've had my braces for 5 years (I know it's sad). You can ask them to put more glue on and that might help

you sound just like my 13 year old son - he has the same issues with braces and is forever back at the orthodontist

he also breaks, or loses just about everything

talk to your orthodontist and ask if anything else can be offered

It might not be your fault. Maybe the orthodontist doesn't put enough glue on.

Sorry it's so simple but it's better than nothing
