Toilet not flushing properly?
When ever we flush the toilet, it doesn't flush properly. It needs a good 4 or 5 yanks on the handle to get the water to flow. Once the toilet flushes it us ok, but getting it to actually flush in the first place is hard work. Is this a fault with the flapper valve?
I am looking to resolve myself or at least attempt to before employing the services of a plumber. Hence the post being posted in the DIY section.
There is no chain, it is a rod and I can't see where it attaches to at present.

Take the lid off the tank and watch what happens when you pull the lever. My guess is the chain is too long but you'll know when you watch.

There should be a chain attatched to the end of the lever rod inside the tank. Then, the other end of the chain should be connected to the flapper valve on the bottom of the tank. When you flush the tank, if the flapper valve falls down before almost all the water in the tank runs out, that means you have too much slack in the chain. If that's the case, take more of the slack out of the chain.

Just adjust the chain that pulls the flapper back. If the flapper doesn't stay in the up position, you will not get it to flush properly. Sometimes the rubber has stretched, and should be replaced.

in case you flush the bathroom, and the water point rises you have certainly one of two issues, you have a partial obstruction in the line or your flapper in the interior the tank is remaining to quickly, allowing a partial flush. you need to take off the tank lid and flush the bathroom, gazing to verify if the flapper is remaining to quickly which might close the water circulate off in mid flush. you could regulate the flapper, ensure you inspect your hands to verify if there is any black residue on them, meaning the rubber is breaking down and it's time to interchange it. If the flapper isn't seating then your bathroom will proceed to run because of fact the flapper isn't coming up a solid seal. additionally WHOMEVER YOU won to snake your bathroom would have pushed a capacity clog farther downstream, the place it remains a difficulty, try renting a capacity auger, that's a snake that has a cuttting head on the top of it, in simple terms be very careful you do not positioned a hollow in the line with it.
