Where can I get some ideas for writing?

I eavesdrop and people watch. I am a character driven author as opposed to plot. My stories focus on the characters and their reactions to situations their determinations and decisions decide where the story goes next.

I like to re-invent my favorite characters from television and books, and put them in my humble life or put a reincarnated version of myself in a very different eschelon of society.

But for me it is the smallest detail that inspires. I may see someone walking and the light changes and they hop back on the sidewalk before a vehicle can strike them. In movies usually the action hero gets hit and goes rolling over the car, but in real life how would that person react? And the driver? Is she chargrinned, upset that she nearly killed the guy, or mad like a city dweller that she is now running late because of this simpleton who hasn't learned to cross a street.

This is a simple start but still a place to begin for me.

I wanted to write a werewolf story but wanted it to be different and with so many out how can I? Well I choose to make a female Lycan.

I have a fascination with fallen angels right now. If murdering men are forgiven upon death in certain religions if they beg forgiveness then how can an angel fall? What despicable thing did they do? And would they first fall to earth? I mean doesn't seem fair that some angel makes a mistake with paperwork and ends up in the pits of hell. I don't think Lucifer would treat him very nicely considering.

I don't know much about steampunk but what if you had some present day criminals who end up in a steampunk scenario? How much damage could they do? Who would be well versed enough to stop them?
