Love life, comics, mystical creatures, mythic love and a good gory action adventure flick with a sexy man on my arm or my kids and their friends sitting a few rows in front of me so I can throw popcorn at them. I am a published author with Kensington books. You can type in my titles at Amazon.com or Kensingtonbooks.com and learn more about me. Both are contemporary, interracial, romance, novels. 'Come With Me' & 'If You Were Mine'

  • Stay or move on?

I am a 45 yr old female. Never married, two children, a career, a home and a good salary. With age comes illness and issues but all in all my life is pretty streamlined. I met a man and we've been dating for almost two years. I want more of a commitment where as he doesn't. We have said we love each other. So do I hang in there and see if we move forward or let it go.

  • What shows are you watching during the summer television hiatus?

I've started watching Suits, Royal Pains, Anger Management, Eureka, Common Law, Men at Work, Bunheads, Franklin & Bash, Melissa and Joey, Baby Daddy, and Leverage.

I have varied interests please suggest some stuff. I want to do repeats and I couldn't get into Walking Dead, Falling Skies, Psych, Breaking Bad, Dr. Who, Cover Affairs, Nikita and Warehouse 13.

  • Why are people discussing the new television show GCB in spirituality & religion like it is a serious debate?

The show is based on a fictitious book that mocks hypocrisy not Christianity. It also pokes fun at overeating and obsessions, grudges, high school cliques, class-ism, Texas, Texans, infidelity and a bunch of other stuff including booby bars, red bottom shoes, marts (for shopping for everything and I love me some K-Mart), ponzi schemes, and just about anything else you find in today's headlines. The spouting of religious texts is only funny because of the fact that these characters genuinely support their attitudes behind biblical words. The lessons are still there to be learned if you have half a brain.

None the less it is a television show to either be enjoyed or ignored that is why cable has over 1000 channels. You aren't forced to watch anything that insults your personal agenda.

  • How many manuscripts do you work on at one time?

Do you have your main 'go to' work and then some short stories or an idea book? Are you outlining another story or just working on a second manuscript to the first one?

I have about 4 full lengths and 20 plus shorts. I am currently all over the place and not close to completing anything.

  • Have you tried writing outside your usual genre?

How difficult have you found it to do something different than usual? ie: going from first person to third; research; selecting names; contemporary to steampunk; subgenres; subplots. What do you do different from one story to the next?

I write contemporary romance but I've been reading a lot of paranormal romance and thought I would take a shot at it and I'm finding world building outside of my skill set. Anyone else have a problem jumping genres?

  • I'm writing a fantasy short romantic story, how do you world build without going crazy?

My story is not even going to be over 20,000 words and yet my notes are like 22 pages long already. I've got a listing of planets, potential names for weapons, languages, the language they speak on this particular planet, other alien life forms and their names, the form of government and of course all the stuff essential to the story has to be shoved in there. I'm a romance writer so the other important element being a romance taking front and center or at least second fiddle to the main plot. So how do you know when to stop building? When is enough enough?

  • What do you think of my idea for a short fantasy story?

Ryder Jones was dismissed from being a guard in Fylgiar because he fell in love with the princess. He is banished and finds himself in the middle of Bailor while a Royal Census begins. Bailor is magically protected against predators. Only those of pure intentions can even find it. However in order to maintain the population a contest is held each year 'the Hunt'.

Magic weapons that do not harm are used to 'tag' the new residents. If you are 'tagged' by hunters too often you are sent away. Those who are not tagged stay. Depending on how many new people arrive depends on how many tags are allotted.

Ryder meets a hunter. A completely onyx colored hunter, from hair to feet, even the clothes. Jekana. He is enamored of her over time. At the end of the hunt it is deemed that Ryder did not partake of the hunt officially and must leave. Jekana gives up her spot and allows him to stay.

She is to be Princess of her clan of bird people. She doesn't wish to become Queen as they rule through fear, violence and intimidation. Because she ran away they will probably execute her once she is found. Outside of Bailor Ryder shows up. He tells her he will help her to stay alive and they can return next hunt and try again.

What do you think? Would you read it?

  • On Switched at Birth do you think Angelo (Bay's birth Dad) Sarrento is a good guy?

He happens to be one of my favorite actors (Giles) not to mention sexy, maybe it is the accent. I'd hate to see him playing a slimy, greedy, lying grease ball. However, if he does I guess that just makes him a good actor.

  • Did anyone hear that Borders books are closing their doors forever?

Where will I get my books from now? Are my only options ordering from Amazon or on-line? Or going to the library? Or searching through the limited selections at Target; Walmart; Walgreens; and little boutique bookstores that charge way over market price?

I'm so sad. Anyone sad with me?

  • In The Nine Lives of Chloe King why does kissing a Mai kill a human?

Is it a curse, or bad DNA combo, or can a Mai pull back and just make them sick and not kill them? Only a kiss on the lips kills and not cheek kissing? I missed the very first episode so I'm not sure how this exactly works.

Also does Chloe know she is Mai before she is killed the first time?

  • How to help with a wrong answer?

Someone asked what a preface was. I took wording from the definition from dictionary.com and they still selected a wrong answer. How can answerers be helpful if others select blatantly wrong answers?

  • What is the difference between fantasy and Paranormal?

I know LOTR is High Fantasy but HP is considered fantasy and it has similar elements to Mercy Thompson yet she is considered Paranormal. So if a book has fae, magic, another realm, witches, witchcraft and legendary creatures where does it go? Like Southern Mysteries (True Blood), Percy Jackson, Wicked Lovely, things like that.

  • How many books are in you, writers?

How many different books and storylines are bouncing around in your head?

Is it one set of characters in a series of books?

Do you have a multitude of characters each yelling at you to get to there story?

BQ: When people find out I'm a writer one of the things they say is 'Oh, you know what you should write...' Does that happen to you? What do you say?

BQ2: Sometimes people say, 'I should write a book too'. (as if it isn't all that hard) How does that make you feel? What do you say?

  • Do you still read vampire fiction?

If you liked it before Twilight, then did the Twilight phase stop you? I love several other authors of Vampire stories and I haven't read Twilight though I enjoyed the movies.

Underworld is one of my favorite Vampire vs. Werewolves stories, though Betsy the Vampire Queen has a side series of the Wyndham Werewolves, and to date I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Mysteries in order. I have about three other series I read as well.

So with so many Vampire books out there are you still a fan?

  • Please answer what do you think of this short passage? It is from my novel.?

His naked torso glistened with sweat as the late sun kissed his skin, turning it to a beautiful, deep, even shade of bronze. His jet-black hair was pulled back in a pony-tail trailing down the middle of his back to his waist, held by a leather thong. She watched the hard muscles of his arms and back tense when he raised the ax.

The act of chopping wood seemed very sensual to Jessie as she watched his body flex and relax, tracing the path of a glowing bead of sweat down his back and around his hip where his jeans dipped precariously low.

A loud crack broke her reverie and she noticed two halves of the newly split log. All noise ceased abruptly, throwing the forest into an eerie silence. When Jessica looked into the man’s face she found herself swimming in a sea of darkness. His looks comprised of sharp angles and planes. His patrician nose perfectly highlighted by severe cheekbones, his chin strong. From ten feet away she could feel his presence permeate the air.

  • How do you get yourself motivated to write?

I have at least fifty thought out ideas. I have characters, setting, scenes and unstructured plot-lines and yet I can't seem to get in the mood to actually sit down and write for very long. I'll open a document and begin but the minute I hit a small roadblock or bump I quit and never go back.

    Any suggestions?

  • Why do some people get a lot of responses to their snippets and others get one or two?

I post sections of works and I rarely get more than one or two answers. While other work gets 10 or 12 responses. I'm not sure why that is. Does that happen to you? Is it frustrating?

  • So I'm writing a story about the deadly Sins. What do you think of Ava?

So I wanted to do a story of the deadly sins working for a corporate Satan. Avarice (Ava Rice) is going to be the first. What do you think of her so far?

She walked into my office like any other morning. She wore practical pumps in a beautiful shade of melon with no stockings to hide her smooth tawny colored legs that went on and on. Her shape was perfectly robust in that Rubén sort of way and the sea foam colored suit complimented her complexion in every way. The cut kissing her curves like a lover’s caress flattered her every flawlessly. Yes Ava Rice exuded professionalism, wealth, intelligence and beauty.

“Sir, you summoned.” She asked. Her voice was as crisp as a winter’s frost and yet it still held the undercurrent of a warm fire on a snowy day.

“Yes Ava. Your next assignment.” I said handing her the file in the crimson folder, manila was so passé. The pages fairly hummed with energy when her hands closed the connection between us. “Understand that this is a ‘given’. There isn’t much to do. He is well on his way to me without you."

"And you need, me, your best agent on a simple matter such as this." She asked me, clearly knowing her talents were valuable to me and the agency.

"I have been sent an e-mail this morning that the ‘others’ have dispatched an agent to dissuade him. You know the rules allow intervention from both sides and they will try to stop us by any means available to them. So I would feel more secure with my best agent keeping an eye on things.”

"Thy will shall be done." The smile that dawned on her face was as mesmerizing as the sun setting over the mountains shading them in mystery and at the same time cutting through them with a darkness so final that you could never see your way out. It was so spectacular; any man would follow her to the Armageddon and step into the abyss of chaos in order to catch one last fleeting glimpse. Ava nodded her acquiescence without making a move and yet it was there for everyone to see. I released the file to her and she gave a wink of her dark seductive eye, a slight kissable pucker to her lips as she turned and left my office.

Within me I knew that Jude Harrison was one of Mine, why they would want such a corrupt man was beyond me, but I wasn’t about to let years of work dissipate on a man’s last whisper.

    * When I cut and pasted I couldn't get it to indent. Go figure.

  • Do your characters take care of basic hygiene?

    1) Do they use the lavatory (bathroom)?

    2) Wash hands? Dishes?

    3) Take shower or bath?

    4) Brush teeth? Mouthwash?

    5) Wear deodorant?

I'm trying to determine how many people notice when characters do or don't do normal average everyday things and how much I should worry about including it.
