Did anyone hear that Borders books are closing their doors forever?

Where will I get my books from now? Are my only options ordering from Amazon or on-line? Or going to the library? Or searching through the limited selections at Target; Walmart; Walgreens; and little boutique bookstores that charge way over market price?

I'm so sad. Anyone sad with me?

Update:

I happen to love my Borders it was sort of a cacophony of disorganization. Kids everywhere, tables full of discounted books, sales people shouting and quiet corners with toys and games and comfy reading chairs.

I don't have a B & N anymore. They closed that down long ago.

Yes! Borders is my preferred book store, sadly they are closing :(

They sent out e-mails to all the borders rewards members and explained why. They will be having liquidation sales throughout all the stores until September I believe, now the only other book store I can think of is Barnes & Noble, although I always liked Borders a lot better. Hope you find a better source to get all your books!

Yes, I am sad as well. I am a Borders Rewards member, and I have saved tons of money over several purchases. Between e-mail coupons and "Border Bucks", I once bought a book that had a $15.95 face value for 62 cents. Just recently, I bought the latest George R. R. Martin book, "A Dance With Dragons", face value of $35, for $17.

There is a B & N nearby, but in this age of electronic books and on-line shopping, how much longer will it be around?

I don't know if they're all closing, but the one across the street is and I just found out today. I'm really depressed - I went in at lunchtime and everything is marked down. I guess I'll get some stuff after work, but I'm not too happy about it. There's a big one near Central Park, but I won't be in that area until I see my chiropractor in 2 weeks. Hopefully that one will stay open.

    It's like losing a friend.

    Yes.

Like a clueless idiot, I went there yesterday and bought a few books, only to realize the liquidation sale starts today (whoops).

Barnes and Noble is a similar store to Borders, tends to have slightly better selection. Amazon isn't a terrible choice either, they have everything.

Unfortunately all Borders stores are definitely closing. Most will probably close for good some time in September, but it just depends how long it takes for stores to sell out of inventory.

    I am sad too.

Not all Borders will be close it's either you don't have one near to you or have one far a way from you. Many of them closed here in my area but I have to get 2 underground trains in order to get there(it's on the other side of the bay{S.F}).

But from what I heard and from my e-mail it states that all stores will be closing and 40% off will be offered.

Fortunately for me I have a B&N close to me, I had another one but it closed too.

I am very sad about that too. If there is a Barnes and Noble anywhere near you, you can do that.If you're okay with e-readers you can get the B&N Nook or the Amazon Kindle. E-reader books are cheaper than regular books. :)

Sounds frightening.. particular! I do have faith in ghosts and stuff. I as quickly as felt somebody tugging on my bag on my thank you to college (i became into 12 then), and as quickly as I rotated, there wasn't everybody in the back of however the strap on my bag became into needless to say being pulled lower back by using some unseen tension! I under no circumstances believed in ghosts previously that, yet after that, i do. and that i've got been listening to the sparkling crisp sound of ringing bells coming from a corner of my room these days. yet i think of yours is actual weird and wonderful! Goosebumps now...

I heard they're all closing, but there's no time frame of when the last stores will close. Barnes and Noble is still going to be around.

They closed down here last year. It's horrible not being able to go and spend hours looking at books and having a coffee. More people are buying and reading online these days. Not good for books in general.
