Best cat food to feed to 5 cats?
I have 5 cats (gross I know) we have one whose about 10, another maybe 6, another probably 4 and the other two are siblings and they're almost 2. They're all a little bit overweight and I keep telling my parents it's because we're feeding them unhealthy food. Well healthy food is super expensive and with 5 cats, we go through a lot of the unhealthy pretty fast.. I want to try and switch them over to healthy food so they aren't unhealthy and sick and fat. What do you guys recommend to get? I want to get something reasonable in price but healthy without corn and all the stuff cats shouldn't be eating, like chicken by-product. Thanks, ill vote best answer to whoever gives me the most valuable information! God bless!

Best to be feeding both dry and canned - not all dry. So if you want quality at a more reasonable price go with Max Cat (in Petco) or Authority (Petsmart). I'd also get the larger cans of Wellness in chicken or turkey or beef.

If you are on a budget then don't worry about an expensive cat food. I have had cats for 60 years and find that canned cat food tends to keep them healthier with far less medical problems. Canned cat food contains all of the nutrients and the moisture that your cats need. Moisture is so important for good kidney function. Fancy Feast or even the Friskies canned food will be fine. If fed the proper amount twice a day, they will maintain a healthy weight. Cats do like to munch on dry food but it really isn't that good for them. Only put out a small amount each day if you are going to include some of the dry food.
Both of the foods that I listed are made by Purina. Some may disagree but do research on this company and you will find that the are one of the best for pet care.

Money saved on food is a false economy, as you will just spend it on vet bills down the line. You won't get a good food in most grocery store, you will need to go to the pet store to get it. Affordable but still of good quality would be Petsmart's Authority brand, or any of the Nutro or Max Cat kinds. Also check out Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. Ideally at least one meal a day should be canned.

Good for you No dry food!!!!
The best you can do with 5 cats is get the 12oz cans of wellness. They are top of the line and at 12 oz's the price costs about the same as the equivalent amount of fancy feast

There are a lot of foods that are decent for cats out there - as long as the first ingredient is some sort of meat it's fine. You can always mix them half and half as well (such as Purina Indoor formula mixed with a "healthy" food).

Iams and Science Diet are the top of the line.
