Halo 4 CTF Flagnum rate of fire pause after first shot?

I am absolutely loving halo 4 and I welcome all the changes even I have been very into halo since combat evolved. Whenever I have the flag in CTF though and I see an enemy out of melee distance and I try to shoot the flagnum the first shot goes off nice then there is a pause in shooting even though I'm spamming the right trigger then the shooting continues a second later and that pause ends up getting me killed because I'm one to two shots behind in the encounter haha. I tested this by using the normal magnum and shooting as fast as I can and its all smooth all 8 shots as fast as I can pull the trigger. It only happens to me when I have the flag. Is this happening to anyone else? Is it common? What's the deal I'm not sure if its laggy or glitchy when I pick up the flag or what? Thanks! Happy slaying!
