Why does the democrat left use the term "assault rifle" rather than "semi-automatic rifle"?
Is this language purposely used to sway the low information voter into being against this form of firearm?

Because that's what they ARE - they're just modified assault weapons that are issued to every combat soldier. Get out of your denial. AR-15s are NOT designed for hunting anything other than humans.

They use the term Assault Rifle because it is sounds more scary then semi-auto rifle. When people hear the term assault rifle they think of terrorists and automatically think "very bad gun" or whatever. Everybody is being brainwashed by our government. Just like today in LA they got thousands of stupid people to turn in their guns willingly no questions asked. That's exactly what the government wants you to do that way when they try and take over, we the citizens will have no way to defend ourselfs against tyranny.
Source(s): Common sense!!! That's the truth now wheres my 10 points please. If you don't believe me look it up for yourself. www.infowars.com - keasalLv 44 years ago
The gun concern has already been come to a decision - See the 2d exchange. 'shall not be infringed' does advise 'except you want to'. The 2d exchange replaced into written whilst maximum persons of electorate owned firearms; and maximum persons of those weapons have been equivalent to or extra ideal to militia weapons. "could the government ban attack weapons aka. "semi automatic"?" extremely not! right that is yet another situation with guncontrol - the united states appropriate court docket has governed in Haynes v. u . s . a . that the 5th exchange to the united states shape exempts felons--and, by utilising extrapolation, all different prohibited possessors--from the registration standards of the Act. (Gun administration Act of 1968 and NFA 1934) So, once you're a offender, you're actually not required to abide by utilising gun administration regulations. you does not be required to sign up an outlawed, GCA, or NFA firearm. Gun administration is a failure.

To prevent voters knowing facts.
100% of non-LIARS who know the correct terms know an "assault rifle" is a select-fire rifle - that the BATFE would call a machine-gun and that NO SUCH WEAPON was addressed in any way by ANY "assault weapons ban" any Democrat ever proposed.
Things Democrats HAVE banned - or tried to - AS ASSAULT WEAPONS, include:
> Certain SINGLE-SHOT rifles of antique design, in OLD calibers designed for black-power - being "assault weapons" by virtue of making bigger holes than Democrats think is reasonable.
> Pump-action shotguns - being "assault weapons" because SWAT teams like them
> This http://media.liveauctiongroup.net/i/9633/10495876_... but not this http://www.retting.com/a/coltspmathbaru401.jpg Just try to get one to explain the difference.
> REVOLVERS (really)
> ALL forms of semi-automatic firearm - including those designed more than 100 years ago.
> Any firearm of any type that had one of 19 specific NAMES - really.
> Firearms with scary-looking pictures in a magazine. - The STATED basis for those singled-out for the Clinton "Assault Weapons Ban." (I absofuckinglutely guarangoddamnedtee I am NOT making that up.)

They know if they use "semi-automatic rifle" they will be doomed.
Democrats have learned from experience that the gun issue is one to avoid at all costs.
A mythical term like "assault rifle" doesn't perk as many ears up of those actually in the know as "semi-automatic rifle" would.
Semi-auto covers grandpa's old 30-06, just like it covers the AR-15. If they want to unleash hell, let them indicate they are going after all semi auto rifles.

Sometimes, they DO!
And it is for the same reason you askj: IGNORANCE.
There are LOADS of semi-automatic rifles that are NOT 'assault" rifles. And the mere fact that you ask this questuion in this way is proof that you do not really understand what the term "semi-Automatic" means.
It ONLY means thatthe force of the kick-back is used to eject the spent round, chamber the next one, and cock the hammer. BUT the shooter must pull the trigger for each shot.
Take your average such hunting rifle, remove the standard wood shoulder stock, replace it with an action-movie cool looking moulded plastic one with a pistol grip, and replace the five round magazine with the banana shaped larger capacity one and VOILA! Assault rifle!
But the cfaliber, barrel length, and action is IDENTICAL!!!

I would have to answer thus: Thats a good one assault or semi auto they can kill 20 innocent children all the same right? Hope that answer is ok. Now my brain hurts & I need to rest!

I'm conservative. U don't know what u r talkin bout. A .22 caliber long rifle Reuger that has a ten round clip does not have an assault weapon categorization. Cartridge size not caliber and design characteristics determine classification. Take an ordinary .22LR bullet next to an AR-15 .223 cal bullet and you will get your answer immediately

They are saying "assault weapon". "Assault rifle" means what it always has meant (fully-automatic rifle) and assault rifles have been banned for a long time. "Assault weapon" has a fuzzy definition at best, but it generally covers any semi-automatic rifle offering some of the same features and mounts as an assault rifle (just not full-auto fire).
It seems that you are the one who does not know what an "assault rifle" is.
