Would a Galaxy S3 case work for the S2?

My boyfriend has the S2, and I wanted to surprise him with a new cell phone case, but the only style I can find (that I like) is for the S3... I'm not really familiar with either phone, and was wondering if the cases would fit either phone?

    gs2 and gs3 have different dimensions!

    thats like the old Yahoo questions of "will Iphone 3GS case fit and Iphone 4?"
