I'm Buying/trading a used Gooseneck flatbed trailer and looking for some Opinions on things to look for?
Ok I'm trading my Ipad 3 and 250 dollars cash for this 5th wheel trailer (I put pictures in the link) I know nothing about them or what to look for like Damage on Important parts or Future problems that I might have with it,or what I should look at on the 5th wheel to make sure that its safe to use,I know that it has a clear title and know to Match title with the vin number,I don't know the brand of the 5th wheel yet but I will ask,Is there any thing else I should ask before trading for it? I only plan on using it just in case one of my cars brake down or a car in my family brakes down but I don't plan on using it to much...I don't use my ipad at all so I think I would get more use out of the trailer,but like I had said I know nothing about them or what to look for,I have an f250 and know it can haul it but hoping to get some info on things I should look at and ask before trading it, and am I getting a good deal on this 5th wheel
My new ipad 3 and 250 cash for this 20ft Gooseneck Fifth wheel....
Things I know about it are its 20 feet long,has a little rust,my truck can haul it, Clear title,and that's it.... Can some one pleas help me fill in the blanks because in my mind I think I'm getting a good deal but I have been Ripped off Before and I really don't want to loose my ipad or my Money.... 1) It's NOT a 5th wheel trailer, It's a Gooseneck. Get your terms straight. There is a BIG difference in design and function.
2) You will need to have a gooseneck hitch and trailer brake controller installed in your truck. Figure about $300 for the parts and labor to install.
3) Do a thorough safety inspection of the trailer before you try to use it. Tires, brakes, rust, cracks in the frame, proper wiring and lighting, etc. This "Bargain" may cost you a lot more than you think.

Here's a lil list what to look for:
1) Check GVWR of trailer and if it matches paperwork
2) Check Plug if it fits your truck
3) Axles, brakes, bearings and All trailer suspension
4) Wiring, if all lights work. And overall condition.
As i see on the picture, it's not a 5th wheel trailer, its the Gooseneck one. You can install 5th wheel adapter tho. Depends what you have on your f250 installed.
