What is it like to be a woman in Saudi Arabia?
What is it like to be a woman in Saudi Arabi? Do you resent wearing the abaya? The hijab? Covering your face? What about the older generations? And the younger ones? Do you feel suppressed as women? Are people really religious there or is it just like everywhere else where some people are extremely religious and some people don't care?
How do men feel about women, them covering, etc? Is there a difference in classes about how people feel about these things? Can everyone get an education? How do people feel about Europe? America? Africa? Asia?
Where can I talk to people about these things? Honestly I am just curious... I'm not here to judge or anything like that; I respect all people and their religions and their choices. Thank you for your help.

All women have to wear the Abaya in Saudi Arabia, Muslims wear the Hijab and most Saudi women also wear the Niqba.
Nobody wears a burqa and Saudi women are as educated as women in the USA if not even better. Not because they are smarter, just for a) not living the same lifestyle like girls in the USA and b) because education is for free. How Saudi girls think about other countries depends on every individual and if for example they travelled there already, where they get their information from, etc., etc.
You may take one thing into consideration. If you grow up in a certain society/culture, you mostly might not give certain things a second thought or take things just the way they are because you are used to it. As strange as it might sound to you that a woman wears the Abaya, covers up, doesn't socialize with unrelated men, etc., etc. the strange might it sound to a Saudi girl to hear that in the USA many women run around half nacked, have children out of wedlock, etc., etc.
When people talk about that Saudi women wouldn't have rights and freedom - it's kinda matter of interpretation. Saudi women have rights and freedom regarding Sharia Law. Most agree with it, some don't. Same with every lifestyle/rules/laws.

I have no idea why the black duvet that we r carrying is bothering u ..We don't have any situation with it. I like living in saudi arabia it is rather risk-free ladies can work in distinct jobs as the other answerers stated we will stay at dwelling if we would like and the men in the family pays for us . We don't need to force bcoz most of us have drivers. We have no taxes we've caring households..We've got household existence what u hear on the information isn't all right. We r living a good existence..And although a few of what u heard is right. The media will attempt to make it as a foul factor( like the black duvet .. They feel that it is insulting us but it surely's no longer)

My friends are Saudi and their mum lived there for a long time and this is what she says, but before I tell you, non-muslims from other countries have to wear the obaya and the people who are muslim and live there have to wear the burka
You get used to it. You can wear what you like in your homes. If you don't have something, you will not miss it as the saying goes. They won't look at other countries what they wear or not beside Islamic countries. But she still doesn't like wearing them anyway
For woman it is unsafe if they just wear the obaya and not the burka
My other real saudi friend says: She likes it and even if it was a choice she would still wear it and it is also tradition (not really religious clothing as it doesn't say YOU HAVE TO) in the Qur'an,
problem is that they could be stoned to death for not wearing it
