I will rephrase my previous question about old people in politics?
Americans keep on electing old people for the senate and house seats for over forty year terms or until they die . How can you do this and expect anything to change with the same old people in power decade after decade??

Yes, lets vote for term limits for these old geezers who forgot what they are supposed to do.

There are differences between the House and Senate. The House is for two years, the Senate for six.
The Senate is referred to as the "cooling saucer" of the House, which tends to generate legislation more emotionally.
And as far as longevity goes, Congress is not just about showing up and voting on things. Politics is about how the game is played, who you know, what committees to get on to influence what policies. It takes a while to figure out how to maneuver through those halls. Age is also about experience.
It used to also be about the bipartisan conversations and agreements taking place off the Congressional floor, but those days are long past.

Well, they don't care enough. The majority of regular voters is in their sixties and retired while the young usually do not vote.....unless the young are a little more enthusiastic about trying to change things will it always be the retirees who faithfully decide who is in congress and senate. The only time you really see more younger people go to the polls is when the presidential election comes around.....

Larry,
Your observation is factually incorrect. Do 5 minutes of research on average age and tenure then try again.

I don't mind old. I have a problem with stupid.
Feinstein and Boxer are stupid, but California voters keep sending them to congress.
I would really like to see term limits for congresspersons, and eliminate the pensions.

Unfortunately, the longer people stay in government, the more pork they can shovel back to their districts.
