Replace furnace's standing pilot with electronic ignition? Possible?
We would like to replace the pilot light in our furnace with something that does not have a standing pilot - some sort of glow-plug or spark

UPDATE ... we got a whole new furnace/AC combo unit
The kits are feasible, but the furnace was ancient, and inconvenient to service. To change the filter you had to go outside, get on the roof, into the attic, go through two attics to the furnace.
If it had been a newer furnace, or more convenient to do monthly filter changes, spending ther $200 or so would have been more appealing. The new furnace is inside the house and I can change filters with no ladders.

They make kits. The kits are called "Universal Intermittent Ignition control Kits"
They cost around $200, Mostly all HVAC supply houses carry them, or can get them.

its not very feasible but could be done. im not going there. experimenting with your life.
