vertigo during period?

about 8 years ago i was diagnosed with dysmenorrhea and a thick lining of the womb (which causes heavy bleeding) and during most of this period i took the pill to reduce pain but after an incident which caused me to have a 17 day period i stopped taking then pill about 2 years ago. within the last 6 months or so i have been getting headaches and vertigo with visual distortion around my period.. feeling very sick sleepy and unsteady on my feet (sometimes having to catch myself on a wall to keep from falling).. over the years i've had my iron and thyroid levels checked many times and they have always come back normal .. any ideas what it could be? do i need to go back to the doctors about this?

What were your thyroid levels when you had them checked?

You should have the following blood tests done: TSH, FT4, FT3 and most importantly anti-thyroid antibodies.

Only they can reveal if you have a problem with your thyroid, like Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Normal TSH is 0.3-3. (Some doctors still use the out-dated reference range of 0.5-5.5)

Some doctors are very misinformed and not knowledgeable about thyroid conditions.

Treatment includes thyroid hormone replacement, such as Synthroid or natural Armour.

I don't know whether this is the same but my dad recently suffered from positional vertigo. This was extreme dizziness and nausea he said he felt like the room was spinning around him. For him i think it was due to stress which brought it on. He got specific medication from the doctors and the effects took their course after just 2 days so maybe you should ask about that at the doctors and you could take the medication just before your period.
