Tips on starting online poker...?

I've decided to start playing poker online. Wanted to know the best site to play on, also how the cash flow works. Can you only put money into your account through a credit card? Any other tips to be successful at this? I have about 2 years experience playing texas hold'em.

Bankroll management, bankroll management, bankroll management...

Only buy in to games you can afford to buy in based on bankroll. Give yourself 25 buy-ins for the level you are playing at in cash games to give yourself a cousin for variance.

You can sign up online via credit card on most of the popular sites, my favorites are Poker Stars, Partypoker, and 888 poker. All have exceptional customer service, 888 and partypoker are populated with a mix of poker players/casino gamblers however.

IF you plan on playing often, and to seriously better yourself as a poker player. Buy HEM2 or PT. These analytic programs will help you plug some leaks in your game.

Other than that I would say read up on poker theory all the time, and participate in poker blogs/forums.

Credit card, depends where you're from. If US then there might be 1 debit card that still works, the Visa "NetSpend". But moneygram is the better way to go.

Since you're just starting, I would recommend Bovada since no one can use tracking software there. Once you've got the hang of real online poker itself, then you can also play at another site (Merge network in the US, more options if non-US) and learn to use tracking software there (like hold'em manager). You can compare which you like more and which is more profitable for you.

There's 1 important tip: bankroll management. Only move up in stakes when you're beating the stakes you've been playing, and only move up if you have a bankroll of 20-40 max buy-ins at those stakes (the higher end of that if your edge is small). If you're losing at a stakes, there's no shame in moving back down to rebuild your bankroll.

When I first decided to start online poker, my brother comment 'a sheep going into a slaughtering house'. Well, it is true! First when you start, the ease of depositing with a click of a button, the hundreds of options of games to play at any time might distract you from your main goal- Focusing on Winning money from other players!

I broke even only after months of enjoying the experience and winning only after i started understanding the dynamics of online poker.

Yes, You can deposit through credit card but be careful, it's so easy to deposit but very difficult to win or payback what you just clicked for depositing.

Have a strong mind and game plan before going! Goodluck!
