Has anyone been successful at helping their family lose weight?

I need to lose about 50 pounds, my son needs to lose about 90 pounds (he's 17) and my husband needs to lose about 25 pounds. I don't know where to start! I don't know how to cook healthy meals that actually taste good and my husband is so picky about what he eats and won't try new things. We all work different schedules so it will be hard to find a workout schedule for us all. I am going to start in the New Year with doing away with all sodas and fast food and bringing sweets or junk into the house. But what else can we do to help us? Has anyone here actually gotten their family in shape? How did you do it?

Update:

I just said we have wildly different schedules so it's almost impossible to exercise together

My mother-in-law uses Weight Watchers principles but can't attend weekly meetings & weigh-ins

Use a systematic approach to limit portions but to stress "good exchanges" like vegetables / healthy fruits for excellent nutrition

Do everything together. Spend a lot of time together. Do team exercises and sports. Go to the gym or pool together. Cycle together etc. Make sure that everyone has the same meals and that the fridge contains generic, healthy food.
