I'm currently unemployed and literally broke. What self help books can I read to help me turn it around?

what are some good books that are tailored to my situation and can help me to get out of it?

I'm literally broke, I never held a job, I've been to tons of job interviews, but I never seemed to be able to get hired. I have no references or resume because literally I never worked and saying that at my age (21) people get the assumption that I'm lazy. They don't understand how much of a problem this has been for me and how hard I've tired to make money. I really can't keep living like this. It's ruining my dating life, my social life, and my mental state. I'm so desperate for help so if anyone knows of a good book I can read that is specifically aimed at my situation please let me know. Thanks.

Update:

I'm seriously just about to join the Marines

You can do that, but the National Guard might offer better educational benefits. And that's really the key. Access to education has brought entire races out of bondage. That's what you need right now. Even though I have never gone through collage, I have never stopped learning. Until recently I was reading the decline and fall of the roman empire. It's very hard to sound intelligent when you are not so. Please, get yourself an education. Student aid is available. The military will help you pay for it. It will bring back your sense of self esteem and worth. There is a power in knowing things.

Volunteer. Something like habitat for humanity or meals on wheels. Those are great ways to meet people who could act as resources and look great or resumes.

That is rough! I know a lot of people who have been through that. Since you are broke and most libraries have limited resources when it comes to books like you need, I have found a list of websites that might be able to help you.

Remember to list anything you've done like mowing lawns, etc. as job experience. If you don't have any experiences at all, then try to volunteer at different places to pad your resume. If you don't have the resources or gas money to get to places to volunteer, call your local career center or social services office - they may be able steer you to a volunteer organization that can help. Sometimes employment agencies can help you get a foot in the door, and all the legitimate ones do not charge you for their services - they charge the business. Some of the national chains are Penmac, Manpower, etc.

You might also think about going to school - start small by going to a community college - they don't charge as much and are used to students in your situation. Plus they can help hook you up with financial aid. I would only take this route if you are determined to stay with the program. You will have to start paying back financial aid asap after you get drop out or graduate.

Good luck and keep your chin up!! Ignore the negative nellies - they just like to put people down and you are not their only targets.

There is no book that will give you work experience. If you cannot find a full-time paying job, your best options would be self-employment (shoveling snow, etc.), part-time work, or volunteer work. Any of those can be made to look a lot better than nothing on a resume, and will demonstrate to people that you're willing and able to work.

Get a loan and go to collage. A degree can earn you a well paying job, to pay off your debt (from loan) and not be as broke as you are.

Here are some ways to make quick cash: quick-cash-24-ways-to-make-money-while-unemployed

Here's a book that can help you (its cheap): http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Get-A-Job-Book-St...

I hope I helped. Good luck

better watch a movie, than read a written book.Of course,it is much easier to get a better picture by watching the action(images),then looking at each one of these expressed words.

    Books cost money

    Go get a job

  • Find one of those "...For Dummies." books. The title sounds mean, but they're actually very helpful. Maybe "Job Hunting For Dummies" or "Resumes For Dummies"? I dunno if they're real copies, but go check them out.

The military is an option when there are no other options.
