Wall socket is hot to touch, please help?
I have a wall socket in a bedroom and for some reason it is very hot when I touch it. Does anyone know why this could be?

bad connection, loose screws securing the wires to the socket terminals.
stretched spring contacts on the socket that are not pressing properly on plug blades.
That would generate heat when a big load is plugged in.
Turn off the breaker and take out the socket, inspect the contacts. if they are loose screws, tighten them and see if it fixes the problem. Otherwise replace the socket, they are only a few $$.
Wires do not "go bad" - nothing happens to copper itself. However, some old wiring used rubber insulation which can perish and fall apart. If that's happened, you need new wiring. Copper can also develop a surface oxide layer which makes it hard to make good new contacts. Cleaning it with fine sandpaper works. If it's copper-coloured and shiny, it's fine.
If the socket gets hot with nothing plugged in, maybe the socket itself is being used as a connection point. In my jurisdiction, that's forbidden by code. Again, a bad connection is a possibility - loose screws.
If you can't fix this yourself, you should get someone to look at it. Soon.

First take out the fuse that feeds that socket then in case you realize the kind you will desire to attempt with a meter on the tip of the socket to work out what situations are on the cable.in spite of the undeniable fact that i think of it may be extra smart to get an Electrician in you "do no longer" mess with electrical energy some distance extra advantageous to be risk-free than sorry.....stable success

Something is wrong with the wiring. If you are not comfortable with electricity have a electrician check this out.
If it continues to heat up you might have a fire.
What else uses that circuit? You might find an appliance plugged into that circuit that is pulling to much current. Unplug it if you can.
If it doesn't stop heating up have an electrician inspect your system.
