Am I supposed to make sure there is extra food that floats to the bottom for ghost shrimp?

I got ghost shrimp to scavenge on the leftover food left by the fish. But I don't want to put too much food or it will rot and kill everything.

They are usually pretty good at finding little bits. It is very easy to see if they are eating or not, just look at them! You can see any food working it's way through their stomach. I feed mine all kinds of stuff. Flakes, bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, sinking pellets, etc. You can see the more colorful food being pumpd through their stomach.

If you are worried, try getting some shrimp pellets. Yes, they are made of shrimp, but once they expand shrimp and fish will pick at them until they are gone.

I drop one or two sinking shrimp pellets once or twice a week to supplement their food supply. Pretty sure they are good just cleaning up after a semi-full tank.

Dont worry about them not getting enoghf. they are good scavengers and it is better to risk a 30 cent shrimp then throwing off th ph of your aqurium.

its cool ghost shrimp are bottom feeders go ahead and do it. do you have a power filter? if you do then perfect. do you also have gravel? gravel will weather the food into dust and it wills sink to the bottom so youre fine. the person under me is also right. they are ghost .
