Why do theists think that "complexity" implies "creation"?

Like when theists say: "look how complex the eye, the ear, or the brain is; it must be the work of a creator!"

Shouldn't a creator create simple things instead of complex ones?

Well, an actual intelligent designer wouldn't make things that look like bad piecework, using disparate bits that were all only just lying around.

A designed human spine would be engineered for being upright; Ours isn't. Because ours is *adapted* from the spine of earlier species that were not bipeds.

And, the human eye is a mess of bad design, like having an inside out retina.

Lots more examples at the link.

The reason that daft theists don't know this is, well, they don't want to. Reality would blow their religious delusions, and they know that.

The creator created simple things as well as complex things.

Someone might consider a rock simple, or a carbon atom.

Either way, the universe did not come into existence without God creating it. Earth did not come into existence without God creating it. Man did not come into existence without God creating Him.

There are plenty of Christians who believe that God created the first DNA and then left evolution to get on with it. Globally, Young Earth Creationism is believed by a minority of Protestants mostly confined to America's Bible Belt, and some Muslims.

The earth being round used to be a complex concept for Christians. Eventually, evolution, which is also complicated for them, will become simple.

"A-" as a prefix maximum heavily skill "no longer," or each and every so often "against" as in: Asocial, warding off the society of others, no longer social Asexual, having no obtrusive intercourse organs, sexless Anemia (the muse be conscious comes from the Greek "haima" for blood, so anemia skill "loss of blood" actually) Aphasia (the shortcoming of the means to communicate or understand spoken or written language from the Greek root "phanai" to communicate) Agamist (person who opposes marriage, from the Greek root "gamos" or marriage. for this reason "bigamy" is the crime of concurrently having 2 spouses.) Acracy (government via none, or anarchy, from the Greek "kratos" for "rule." Are we seeing a development right here with the muse words? {grin} Acyanopsia (skill no longer able to work out the colour blue. "Optikos" is Greek for considered or seen and "Cyan" a blue-green shade, lower back from the Greek "kuanos" for dark blue. Geez, the Greeks confident have been given around, did no longer they?) Akinesia (loss of means to flow) Akeratophorous (no longer horned, theory i could spare you the Greek on the final 2!) theory i could in simple terms throw this in... there is an diverse meaning for the prefix "a-" meaning "interior the state of" or "on or in the direction of" that lands up in older words that (customarily) are not used anymore... Aboard (being on board a deliver, plane or practice) Ablow (interior the state of being blow around) Aborning (whilst being born) Alee (on the lee side, meaning the side that doesn't get the wind) Ahull (with sails furled and the helm lashed to the lee side) Alow (under)

No education of poor education is the cause for people not being able to understand or comprehend basic terms and concepts (in this case, scientific).

And what you don't understand you fear and automatically goes to be divine...

If simple is what's needed, then yes. If complex is what's needed, then simple just won't do. Besides, maybe the eye IS simple. To Him.

"Why do theists think that "complexity" implies "creation"?"

They think only simple simpletons, like their god, doesn't need to be created.
