Today my Golden Retriever died...?
I'm so effing upset. I've been crying to my boyfriend for hours today because Bella was like my best friend. She'd go running with me in the neighborhood, shed love to do tricks with me, she was an amazing intelligent bright dog. She was so young too, 4 years old. We got her 4 yeRs ago whenever she was first born, we got her dec 25, 08. An it's dec 27,12 whenever she died.. Ironic ? Anyways this is the story...
My step dad was taking the trash out and he noticed that Bella wasn't hyper and up moving aroun like she normally does , she was just Laying there and whenever she saw my step dad she raised her head up a little and put it back down. He went over to her and noticed she was barely breathing. ( She was in heat too, AND she had heart worms which my mom couldn't afford to pay to get fixed cause it was expensive), so my step dad rushed in the kitchen told my mom and they were on the way in the car to go to the vet and Bella died on the way there. She was bleeding A BUNCH. Not normal. Whenever she was in heat normally shed bleed lightly, but this time it was everywhere, so heavy-not normal. The vet said she had a blood clot from the heart worms and her hormones combining together or whatever. We buried her today in our backyard. I couldn't watch my step dad do it.... I couldn't see her like that. I've been bawling my eyes out to the point that they hurt. I miss her so much already and I'm trying to maintain and cope but it isn't helping...... I don't know what to do . Mom said that something else must have happened because Bella never bled that much..... She was fine this morning , then all the sudden around 3pm I get a text from my mom saying Bella Died ... It was SOOOOO unexpected... I don't know what to do ..
OK for the PEOPLE THAT ARE BEING HARSH AS ****. It wasn't just MY dog it was a FAMILY dog. So don't blame it on me. It's not animal abuse thank you so stfu. We bathed her, fed her good, she took dog vitiams or whatever, and we always went and took her to get a hair trim and nails trimmed. So WE DID take care of Bella. So for real Eff off, man. My mom just didn't have $1,200 lying around like some people. She was a really healthy and active dog besides the heart worms. She got them from the mother dog whenever she was born. We bought her off of some guy and he apparently didn't take good care of the Bella's mother because the mom dog had worms too and gave them to Bella....y'all need to stop being so dam mean.

I am sorry your dog died... that is very unfortunate.
But, you need to get your facts straight. She did NOT get heartworms from her mother... that is not how heartworms are acquired. Heartworms are acquired by being bitten by a mosquito that is carrying heartworm larva while not being given heartworm preventative. She did not need to have her coat trimmed or to have her nails done by a groomer, she did not need vitamins if she was being fed good food... that money could have paid for monthly preventative. Had she been given preventative, she would not have gotten heartworms and she would not have died. Your parents made choices about what to spend money on for her, and the choices they made cost her her life. Not being mean... it is what it is.

Don't' get any more dogs kid
Your not responsible enough for one since you kept yours outside. As a minor there wasn't much you could have done since it was all on your parents to make sure the dog was spayed and got proper vet treatment which they didn't bother with.
Its your parents fault for not bothering to have the dog treated for HW and for not spaying the dog. Its an ugly painful way to die. You blame your parents for not vetting the dog and not taking proper care of it. If they could not afford the vet care then they should have surrendered the dog so it could have gotten the treatment it needed or be humanly put down so it would not have suffered such a horrible death
--------------
Stop acting like you were entitled to have the dog when your family could not afford to vet the dog. Yor dog died from something that could have been prevented.
It IS abuse when you don't vet the dog.
If your mom didn't have the money to pay for HW then she should have surrender the dog so it could have gotten treatment or be humanly put down. Instead you selfishly allowed the dog to suffer and die
HW doenst come from the mother, it comes from mosquitoes. Your dog as never on HW preventive and was kept outside and you didn't bother to get HW preventive so the dog got HW then you never bothered to treat the HW. This is considered abuse under the law

dont get me wrong i feel bad for you but by not treating her heart worms you put a death sentence on your dog. failure to provide medical treatment to an animal is abuse. she might have been ok possibly if she had been fixed then she wouldnt have bleed out so much. but by not treating the heartworm you ended ur dogs life. no vet who is half decent will deny treating ur dog. my moms dog swollowed a bunch of **** n needed emergency surjery. $1400. we didnt have a dime of it but they put us on a payment plan. i feel bad for you but her death was avoidable. try not to get an animal you cant aford proper treatment too. dogs are just like humans. dont you think she was in pain?

omg! i feeel so sorry for you! :'(
i have a doggy too and i would cry all day if that happenned to him :(
RIP to your dog
btw next time if you buy another dog makesure you give them worm tablets for all worms and flea tablets so this kind of stuff wont happen. i use sentinel spectrum, it protects dogs from all worms and flea allergy and stops the flea cycle. it just dont kill adult flea.

I am sorry, but you should have surrendered her since you couldn't take care of her. The severe heartworm infection had to take YEARS. If you had brought her to a rescue they could have treated the heartworms, got her spayed and she would still be alive. If you have other animals, surrender them

Nothing can erase the pain but but my wife and I can offer up this:
Her little time on earth was filled with love by you. You made her life special because her life was special to you. A dog has unconditional love and what you wrote tells me she loved you.
We have been down your trail numerous times and it is painful.
You have our thoughts and prayers.
