I don't care for football. Why does that seem odd to other people?
I am not really the biggest sports fan in general, but I do enjoy some sports enough that I would watch a game and maybe check out other games if I am interested. I enjoy basketball, I also enjoy hockey and I sometimes enjoy soccer. I even like boxing and MMA. I will say that I find volleyball and tennis interesting at times. However, I never found myself that interested in football.
I could never get into it. I remember being in a group of guys once who talked about football and I was the quiet one of the group. Some even asked me which team I root for. I say "I have no team to root for." Some people get too hardcore when it comes to football. Sometimes I am glad that I am not really a fan.
I have read that in Europe, there are hardcore soccer fans out there. Same with in Canada with hockey fans.
So why would it seem odd for a guy to have little interest in football?

I live in Sweden and I hate soccer or football as we call it here. I find it extremely boring. Most of my guy friends sit and talk about football sometimes and I just don't pay attention. They often go to the local sports bar to watch a game. I'll join once in a while but not that often.
However I love boxing and MMA. I even do boxing. The great thing about those sports is the intensity. A fight is over in 10-15 minutes. It's done like that. A football game goes on for 90 minutes and sometimes not a single goal has been scored.
When my friends start talking about football for too long I break them up. I'll go like this: "Ok fellas, fellas. Enough with being gay for one day. There are some girls over there that seem very approachable. So who's with me?". If there is one thing guys like more then football and sports it's girls.
All of them know I hate football and they tease me about it. But it's cool. I'll give them that. I tease them as well.

Because guys are expected by society to be aggressive and sporty and into spots and all that. Buuut if you're not, people will think it's odd if only because it's not typical of a guy.
