I hit a PETA person...?
Ok so here's what happened. The other day, I went to KFC, and there was a group of PETA people protesting outside of KFC (heaven knows why). One of the people walked up to me, stood in front of the entrance, and grabbed my jacket. I proceed to punch him in the nose and push him to the ground. Can there be any legal repercussions for doing that?

I'm not sure since they initiated it by grabbing your jacket. It's probably fine, I doubt they'll try to press charges.
And *sigh* I wish PETA people would chill a little because they give vegans a bad reputation. I'm vegan, but I wouldn't try to prevent people from making their own choices. just sayin. And if you actually are wondering, they protest at KFC because kfc buys their chickens and other meat from a farm factory that badly tortures the animals and inhumanely kills them.

"PETA people protesting outside of KFC (heaven knows why)." Well you are on the internet maybe you could research this.
FYI edit: You hit a person. The peta thing is irrelevant. To bad he wasn't a minority then you could have posted in two sections.

Even though this is clearly a troll, "reasonable response" to someone grabbing your jacket is NOT punching them.
Yes, you could have civil and criminal charges filed against you and you will likely lose.
PeTA protesters are usually given a pretty thorough 'how to protest' talk before doing one and blocking an entrance and trespassing will not be on their 'how do' list - yet another reason this is a fake post.

Yes its assult so when he reports you, you will be prosecuted. if you plead guilty you may get away without jail time if you plead innocent the fact that you told the world that what you did it on Yahoo Answers may prove an issue......
PS: its not self defence as you have to respond with reasonable force - Smashing someone in the face for grabbing your jacket is not reasonable so you can forget that as a defence.

Shouldn't be he grabbed you in any case that can be assault as long as you just punched and pushed him and didn't beat him up anymore than necessary you should be fine as long as you have some non biased witnesses nearby.

You should probably ask a lawyer about it instead of strangers on the internet. If there was trouble, you should point out that he grabbed you first.

Yes, there could be legal problems. But if he laid hands on you first, I think you could claim self defense.
