just splashed a bunch of hot wax out on my favorite linen shirt. Any way to get the wax out? It has soaked through the shirt.

This is really easier than you think. Works on carpet as well. First you need newspaper ...don't forget this next step...test the paper to be certain the ink/print won't transfer. The Press-Enterprise uses cheap ink which DOES transfer and The LA Times uses higher quality ink and does not. Place MANY layers of paper below and above the waxy area and place an iron set on the lowest temp on the paper. Check it every 5-8 minutes, the wax will almost always wick up. Replace the top newspaper until the paper comes out waxless. Time consuming, but it works!

1 Soak the item of clothing in cold water until it is dripping wet.

2 Boil up a full kettle or pot of water.

3 Place the item of clothing next to a sink or bowl with the wax-stained section of clothing hanging into the sink or bowl.

4 Pour the boiling water over the wax so that it runs into the sink or bowl and away from the rest of the clothing.

5 Change the water for new items. For each item being cleaned, get rid of the water in the bowl before starting again

6 Put the item(s) of clothing straight into the washing machine and wash as usual. Or hand-wash if appropriate.

7 Get a washcloth wet, works best with cold water.

8 Heat up an iron medium to high setting(like for ironing clothes).

9 Place the cold washcloth over the waxed area. Iron over the washcloth.Repeat with different parts of the washcloth. And you're done.

Freeze the fabric. Wrinkle it with your fingers and vacuum the broken chunks of wax out. (Be sure the vacuum nozzle is clean!) If some remains, put the fabric between paper towels and iron it at a low temperature. If the fabric can stand very hot water you can rinse the wax out by pouring the water through the fabric.

You have to chew it out. Sometimes it works better when you have an ice cube in your mouth and make gorilla noises. Hope this helps.

I had this problem when experimenting with BDSM, too. Just use those solutions you can buy at the store.
