Financial aid questions?
I have a couple questions about Financial Aid and FAFSA.
First off, would it be best to email the FAFSA people and ask my questions or should I go to my schools financial aid office.
I'm currently a Freshman in college and am preparing information for FAFSA 2013-2014. Last year, my parents were together and we placed both their incomes on the FAFSA form. However, this year my parents are separated and are working on the divorce papers this year.
Will my parents being separated attribute at all to my financial aid?
Also, I primarily live with my father. Would I be able to just mark my fathers income information on my FAFSA and not my mother's since I live primarily with my father?
Can anybody help me with this?

Go to your financial aid office with any questions.
If your parents are separated and can prove that they maintain two different residences, then yes, you should mark the separated box under parent information and put only your father's income info on the FAFSA.
I cannot BELIEVE some of the terrible misinformation I see all over in some of these answers!!!

First of all they always base everything of the year before so if you're going to school in 2013 they are going to want your income information from 2012 also I don't think that they will let you slide with just your father's income information my sister is almost 30 years old and a couple years ago they still wanted both her parents information and I just thought it was crazy because she's been out of there house for 10 years good luck to you this is from Florida by the way

For FAFSA financial aid purposes, your parents are married, until there is an official divorce decree. That is, both parent's income must be listed on the FAFSA form, whether or not they are living under the same roof, and whether or not you live with dad or mom or both.
To be sure, yes, check with your school's financial aid office; they'll be happy to help, I'm sure.
Good luck!
