Can you use VPNs to bypass security networks?
Let's say that I go to a place such as... a library with a security network setup that blocks facebook. So I go in there with an ipad and try to get on facebook but I can't because they have this network setup. If I were to have a vpn connected to my home computer, would I be able to log into my home vpn and bypass the security so I could access facebook? Thanks!

yep.
the traffic appears to the local network as going to the vpn endpoint, and when it gets to that endpoint it can go out the interwebs, then on the way back, into the endpoint, in which case the traffic back to you appears as coming to you from other vpn endpoint.
the traffic can be (is usually) encrypted also, between vpn endpoints.
