If you want to change you avatar from yahoo avatar go here..and change and then saved.

    http://avatars.yahoo.com/index.html

If you want to download a photo..go ot yahoo homepage or google image and type in a name etc and then RIGHT click on that photo and click on "save image as"...this will take you to your folder, down at the bottom of that picture there is a section that is highlighted blue you can change that and type in whatever name you want to put in there, then hit your enter button. NOW go to your name anywhere (Not on the Y/A profile). click on your name and then click on profile, this will take you to a black page with your photo on it and then you click on change picture/photo, then on the left there is an arrow click on that and this will take you to your folder. Once you are in your folder double click on your picture you want and on the right of it you can make it smaller or larger by moving that button back and forth and then click on SAVE and then this will take you back to the black page where your new picture is, DOUBLE click on the picture next to the arrow and on the top of that page it will say successfully saved..then you're done..if you do not see any changes on your y/a profile yet just go back and double click on the picture by the arrow again until you see it come on.. and that's it!! if you need more help just email me. Hope this helps!

I changed my avatar yesterday and I don't know how I did it. I have been trying for months to change the cartoon picture, however the YA avatars option has not been available to me when I click on the "Edit My Preferences" link on my "My Activity" page nor on my "My Profile" page, where these links are normally found.

Anyway, a couple of days ago I found a photo of Audrey Hepburn that I like in which she looks like me and I copied it to my computers something or other. Then I tried to upload it to the avatar thing. It wouldn't work the first 3 times, then all of a sudden it worked on the Profile page. The next day it appeared on my "My Activity" page as well.

This is how I change mine

1 Go to view your profile

2 The screen that appears will have your current avatar.

Put your mouse pointer at the bottom of the avatar,a black band will appear with 'change photo'

3 Click the band and a drop-down box will appear with the option to upload a new pic/photo.

4 Brows your library and select one, making sure the size and format suit yahoo.

    5 Upload.

I made a folder in my photo library specifically for avatars making them easier to find

You have to go to your profile and upload the pic/avatar you want to use. Click on the avatar you have and it will say, change avatar. Select the pic you uploaded and save.

YGG, is far better than I am about instructions! If she sees this, she will be a lot more thorough than I can be.

    I hope I helped a little.

Gale is right. It used to be a lot easier when you could just go to "edit my preferences" but that option hasn't been available to me for a long time. It may work for others. Every time I want to change mine I have to upload a new picture and that's a pain in the butt.

    Warm heart,

You have many good instructions. I had to ask Daisymae, and she told me. It isn't as easy as it used to be. I may scan another and put it up. YGG has done well with her instructions.
