Trade in value after accident?

I own a 2006 Mazda 6i GS. It's NADA is 11,800 retail/ 8,900 clean/ 7,600 fair/ 6,700 rough.

My car has been in 3 minor accidents over it's lifetime. Carfax states it's worth 50 less than book value. Dealer is offering 5,300. Saying its because of accidents. Are they just being stubborn or did it actually diminish my value that much?

I really would like to get 6,500 AT LEAST. Ideally, 7,500. My car has new tires, new alignment, body is literally FLAWLESS, and I got my 75,000 mile service recently done at 60,000 miles.

Should I be able to get over 6k?

I am tending to 'agree' w/ everyone that says 'sell-it-yourself'...

Yes, it's more of a 'hassle'....but YOU get the 'rewards'....

In my 60+ yrs, I've yet to find an HONEST Car- Dealer..

They NEVER have your interests @ heart...Yes, they 'make' trade-in sooo EASY....hassle-free, etc....& NOW you can see/understand the WHY part.

Good LUCK...stay sane & safe over NY'S Eve...

Ok dealer will offer you less all the time. You could try a different dealer if you like. But your best bet if you want a good price on your car is to sell it as a private sale. Also if you don't own the car(meaning the bank as the title) go to your bank an tell them to order the title in bc your thinking about selling it. But I had a 2004 mustang back in 2006 with 13,000 miles on it worth 14000 and 2 weeks later a dealer tried to offer me under 7k for it. You could take it somewhere else but I believe you should sell it private so you can get Wat you want out of it..

Sell it out right, no trade. It would be worth the extra time on you part. Sure, even if your 6i would have never had a bad history a dealership would only give you about 80% of it's true current value. Not much more than 50% with it's history. You should not be surprised with their offer. Post it yourself. Hey it's a nice automobile, some one will definitely give you 6,500+ if you shop it right. Avoid trading to a dealership, period.

i'm no expert yet I dont think of the linked fee could replace dramatically yet ask your self this: could purchase your Jeep Liberty for despite your inquiring for it, if interior the carfax report it says it became in an accident and had upkeep accomplished? you probable could 2nd guess paying for this automobile and could attempt to barter for a lower priced.
