Night of the Living Dead: allegorizes racial tension, the effects of the Viet Nam war on the American homefront, major theme is the breakdown of communication.

Dawn of the Dead: satirizes consumer society.

Day of the Dead: both satirizes and allegorizes the excessive politics of 80s Reaganomics and paranoia/hysteria of martial states.

Land of the Dead: satirizes and allegorizes the Bush administration and the disregard of the lower classes by the rich.

Diary of the Dead: a satire/allegory on the age of digital media and the ease of capturing traumatizing images and posting them online for anyone to see. Also comments on the notion that "if you don't capture it on film, it didn't happen."

Survival of the Dead: allegorizes the refusal to compromise or cooperate between the major political parties (Democrats and Republicans) and how those they're supposed to represent get lost in the shuffle.

Night - Racism, expanding gulf between youth and older generation.
