At Luke 1:34 you will find your answer:

"But Mary said to the angel: “How is this to be, since I am having no intercourse+ with a man?” 35 In answer the angel said to her: “Holy spirit+ will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you"

Holy Spirit is not a person, but instead its God's active force. If it was a person and God used it to plant the seed in Mary, then some would question Mary's virginity. But this was a miracle that God performed on our behalf.

    Luke 1:34-37

34 But Mary said to the angel: “How is this to be, since I am having no intercourse with a man?” 35 In answer the angel said to her: “Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. For that reason also what is born will be called holy, God’s Son. 36 And, look! Elizabeth your relative has also herself conceived a son, in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her, the so-called barren woman; 37 because with God no declaration will be an impossibility.” 38 Then Mary said: “Look! Jehovah’s slave girl! May it take place with me according to your declaration.” At that the angel departed from her.

The holy spirit. Mary was born without Original Sin, so God chose her to bear the Holy Spirit, part of the Trinity, in a human form.

Damn you, "Andrew". I was going to use the turkey baster (it IS a true story and it did work!) myself and I thought it was obscure enough I could get an original answer!

Think of the Painting of "Leda and the Swan" wherein Zeus took the form of a large swan to impregnate Leda. One never knows with "gods".

At least one legend has it that the "holy spirit" acted through the person of an itinerant Roman soldier, a decorated standard bearer who died in Germany years later. Wish I'd kept the reference on that one, it was pretty well detailed and quite possible.

    Blessings on your Journey!

The bible says that God made the world just by speaking His word. The same applies to Mary.

There were several other supposed virgin births ...impregnated by some god or another. Horus was born of a virgin...and many others. All fiction.
