URGENT and complicated, do I need emergency contraception?

I am on the pill and never miss them, but yesterday something I ate made me vomit. This happened about 30 minutes- 1 hour after I took my daily pill. Then today I had protected sex, but there was a serious mishap with the condom. Do I need to find emergency contraception or should I still be protected by my regular pills?

Update:

(I've been on the same pills for almost two years, and the website says that if you only miss one pill you don't even need back up birth control, but since this was an unusual situation I figured I'd get some extra opinions).

I'd say you're protected. Just double up the next day that you take your pill and you should be fine.

If it would make you feel better, you can take plan B, but I don't think you need it. You should be fine if you've been on the pill for over a month:) It's in your system, just double up the next day. Good luck!

  • Statistically you should be protected. There is a slim chance you need plan b.
