does anyone else feel the same way about being an artist?

i like to draw and paint, but i feel like if i go into a graphic design career, it's not going to make me love art more, it's going to ruin my passion for art.

do yall feel me? or am i crazy?

just because i won't be making art for myself any more. it'll be for clients. and i don't know if that's going to be something that will make me enjoy what i do.

Well, if you don't keep your mind open to learning new things, then yes you will probably lose the passion for art (and if you really do that would basically be saying you never had any real passion to begin with). You have to think positive or else you will feel miserable and not do anything.

as someone already mentioned, drawing and painting is a bit different. Graphic designing is well... more about designing! That Juice Can or Snapple Bottle your drinking Has Design Elements all over it. That icon for that game app on your iphone, game interface, logos, posters with photography incorporated into it,etc.

Making art for yourself is always the best feeling but there are times when making an art for a client can be very rewarding. Especially for big name clients like DC Comics/Marvel, Wizards of the Coast. SciFi/Fantasy based Movies and Gaming Studios require Artists as well to create the concepts and matte paintings(if you're interested in backgrounds)!

    Wut?

How is making a living change how you feel about art? Doing Graphic design uses some of the same skills as when you are doing art but it is your 'day job'. Doing art is your passion. A day job is to make money for 40 hours a week. That leaves 128 hours for everything else. A huge portion could go into making art.

Let me tell you many MANY artists do it that way.
