Will Colorado and Washington's drug legislation slow Mexico's violence?

With more than 60,000 victims in Mexico. Will the commercial production and distribution of marijuana in the states ease their death rate?

    Not by much since it's still federally illegal and illegal in 48 other states, plus DC.

    Both states are rather small, and in the grand scheme of things their consumers use very little of the marijuana imported from Mexico. On top of this, marijuana production and distribution are still illegal in Mexico, and its possession and distribution is still a violation of federal law, so we won't see any significant drop in violence in Mexico due to the new laws.

    This doesn't mean that the people in those two states have erred; it means you are trying to draw a cause-effect connection that does not exist. It speaks poorly of the person who wrote the question, but does not reflect one way or another on the people or laws of Colorado and Washington.

    No, marijuana is just one of the many drugs the mexican drug cartels sell and only two states have legalized it. (it's the drug they make the least amount of money on.)
