Which job(s) should I take?
I have been looking for a job, and after a few weeks that seemed like forever without anyone getting back to me I have suddenly gotten several interviews. I just got another call from a different place today. Here are my options so far:
1) Subway. It's about 15 miles away. I had responded to postings for shift leader and assistant manager because I would prefer not to drive 15 miles for minimum wage. I had an interview with the area manager that went well, and I have an interview with the franchise owner on Monday. The area manager mentioned that they would like to find someone who will work their way up from the bottom (minimum wage sandwich artist).
Starbucks. 20 miles away, minimum wage. I had an interview there and I was offered the job. I am waiting for them to set up orientation. The only thing that is appealing about this is the fact that I already got the job, even if I haven't actually started it yet.
Red Lobster - 20 miles away, serving so I will make well over minimum wage with tips. My interview on Friday went well, she said she would email me after checking my references.
Little Caesars. 20 miles away. I had responded to postings for assistant manager. Apparently assistant manager at Little Caesars is an hourly position that pays about $1 an hour more than minimum wage. :-\
My neighbor who is also my friend talked to his friend who manages a Subway about 20 miles away and she wants me to work there, not sure what position but likely minimum wage sandwich artist.
So that's it. I would love to get 2 of those jobs, preferably the 2 that will pay the best. I am also getting old enough that I need to start looking towards moving into a higher paying salaried position eventually. So how should I handle the situation and which jobs should I take?

Well the saying is "A bird in the hand is worth more than one in the bush" meaning you have a firm job offer at Starbucks a well known respected place which I would proceed. Then if looking for a second job consider Red Lobster since it appears you are close to being hired just waiting for the references. The Assistant Manager role at Little Caesars is only a $1.00 more and the expectations are extremely high and the hours long. Lastly Subways would be on the bottom of my list due to high complaints by employees in many locations. These positions at the above companies will serve you well in the future. Good Luck!!
