I don't answer multiple choice questions or do math for you. Do your own homework people. Also, I thumbs down all answers that are just links to websites. This is Yahoo Answers not Google search. You know who you are.

  • Which job(s) should I take?

I have been looking for a job, and after a few weeks that seemed like forever without anyone getting back to me I have suddenly gotten several interviews. I just got another call from a different place today. Here are my options so far:

    1) Subway. It's about 15 miles away. I had responded to postings for shift leader and assistant manager because I would prefer not to drive 15 miles for minimum wage. I had an interview with the area manager that went well, and I have an interview with the franchise owner on Monday. The area manager mentioned that they would like to find someone who will work their way up from the bottom (minimum wage sandwich artist).

Starbucks. 20 miles away, minimum wage. I had an interview there and I was offered the job. I am waiting for them to set up orientation. The only thing that is appealing about this is the fact that I already got the job, even if I haven't actually started it yet.

Red Lobster - 20 miles away, serving so I will make well over minimum wage with tips. My interview on Friday went well, she said she would email me after checking my references.

Little Caesars. 20 miles away. I had responded to postings for assistant manager. Apparently assistant manager at Little Caesars is an hourly position that pays about $1 an hour more than minimum wage. :-\

My neighbor who is also my friend talked to his friend who manages a Subway about 20 miles away and she wants me to work there, not sure what position but likely minimum wage sandwich artist.

So that's it. I would love to get 2 of those jobs, preferably the 2 that will pay the best. I am also getting old enough that I need to start looking towards moving into a higher paying salaried position eventually. So how should I handle the situation and which jobs should I take?

  • Does anyone have any advice for my upcoming job interview?

I applied at Subway for 2 different positions, shift manager and general manager (I meet the qualifications for general manager) but I have never worked at a Subway before. So, I have worked in food service for a very long time and I am hoping that this interview is for the GM spot, but I'm not actually sure.

So, I'm assuming it is for GM and I will be wearing a nice shirt and a tie and really pumping myself up for this interview. I have been really thinking about possible questions they might ask me and coming up with and rehearsing answers to those questions, but I'm really nervous. If anyone has any advice or experience applying to similar positions, or possibly hiring people into similar positions I would love to read it!

  • How reliable and effective are job search websites?

I have been furiously looking for jobs the last couple of weeks. I now have profiles (with my resume, one of them even asks for a picture, all sorts of contact information, references, work history and all that stuff) on several sites. I have applied to dozens of jobs through those sites.

Yes I have also gone to company websites and applied there, and I have physically gone to a bunch of places and filled in actual paper applications and stuff too.

I was just wondering if I should put any hope at all into finding a job through one of these sites. Snagajob, indeed, etc. or if I should stop wasting my time with them.

  • How can I find a job ASAP?

I understand that I'm leaving myself wide open for some trolls, but I know how to ignore trolls. Hopefully some serious answers will be mixed in.

I got laid off from the factory I worked at 2 weeks ago. I have about 10 years of experience working in restaurants, no college degree (oops...) and that's about it. I have applied at about 20 different restaurants in the area, plus every gas station and store and anywhere else that I would be qualified to work.

Today I went around checking on my applications and nobody is hiring. It's a terrible time of year to be trying to get a job in this area! I am in a panic, almost out of money, and wondering how I'm going to pay rent in a few weeks.

If anyone has any serious advice for me please let me know.

  • Why don't we have the right words to describe size?

There are lots of words to describe the sizes of things: long, narrow, wide, thin, tall, fat, broad, big, small, narrow, huge, tiny, and many many others.

If something isn't tall, we call it short. If something isn't long, we call it. . . short.

Example 1: I have 2 dogs. They are the same height at the shoulder but one is much smaller from nose to tail. So, my smaller dog is as tall as my larger dog, but shorter.

Example 2: I have 2 cars. They are different sizes. My second car is wider, shorter, and shorter than the first car. ???

We should invent words that describe ONLY something that is small in height and ONLY something that is small in length. Discuss.

  • Politics and Government crazies - explain democracy to me please.?

I constantly see people making highly polarizing and divisive comments in their questions and answers, and I constantly see people imply or outright say that anyone who disagrees with anything they say is either lying or stupid. I see a lot of posts implying or outright saying that people who disagree with them should not be allowed to vote or should not get free speech, or even that they should be tried as terrorists. How can these same people claim to "love America" or "democracy" or "freedom"? I really just want to know where that thought process comes in and how you can justify it.

  • I need to recreate a disaster and I need ideas.?

This is for a computer animation class. I'm supposed to pick a real disaster or accident and create an accurate animation of it. I need to have a detailed description of the event. Most people in my class are doing airplane and boat accidents and I want to be different.

It helps if I can make it darkly humorous too.

Ideas? Also links to detailed descriptions of the events? THANKS!

  • Why do people say "3 times smaller than _" or "7 times less than"?

Am I the only one that is bothered by this?

How do you measure how much smallness something has?

Also, 3 times larger should mean 4 times as large shouldn't it?

  • How do people get famous now?

There is a growing trend where people get famous for seemingly no reason at all. I am just curious how they end up being famous in the first place. I'll give some examples.

The cast of Jersey Shore. They get drunk, they act like idiots, and they're famous for that? I know lots of people that get drunk and act like idiots and they aren't famous. I wasn't famous when I was 21 and drank a lot and acted like an idiot, so how did they get famous?

Ke$ha. She isn't a very great singer, I don't know if she writes her own songs or not but any 11 year old slut could write songs that are as good as Ke$ha's, and she doesn't seem to really have any talents other than being a drunken whore. How did she get famous?

Dev - She's a "musician" but she doesn't actually sing, she just sorta raps. When she does "sing" it's done completely with autotune. In fact, she's not even really rapping so much as just talking with a rhythm. She doesn't write any songs, she doesn't play any instruments, and she's not the one that makes the electronic beats in "her" songs. She doesn't really dance, and she is above-average looking but not pretty enough to just be famous for that. How did she get famous?

Basically, I want to know how I can be famous too.
