If you have a small dog, put her in a cage as your company is entering your house. When your company is inside, take her out of the cage and hold her. Let your guests pet her if she is not fussy and wont bite. After they give her attention for a couple minutes, give her a treat, a toy, or a bone to keep her busy. If none of this works, it might be hard, but give her a treat, a toy, or a bone and put her in a cage with a blanket over top so she cannot see the new people.

Google NILIF... work with that. She needs more confidence. Confidence in you will help and NILIF will do that.
Ask all guests to completely ignore her. See if you've got a couple of friends who would come round deliberately to help with this.
If she uses a crate then put it in the same room so that she can get in it if she wants but leave the door open so she doesn't feel you are putting her away. Block the sides of the couch so that she can't get behind it. She needs to face this fear but without pushing it from your side.

Put the dog in another room when company arrives, Then start training and socializing the dog. Obedience training is good for both training and socialization.

Try using a spray bottle with a bit of lemon juice in it. Spray it at her face each time she barks, followed by a firm "NO!". If the dog stops, say "GOOD" and if it remains quiet, give it a small treat to let it know that you appreciate its behavior at the moment. If it keeps barking spray again, "NO" and a butt smack.

Could be worse, I had a dog that loved people. Company would come over and he would pee on them.

The reason he is barking is because there are strange people in his territory that are frightening him.
