Can I bring Zippos on a plane?

I bought two new zippos for presents for my friends when I get where I'm going. I still have the boxes they came in and they have no fluid...How do I get them on the plane? Can I carry them on? Do I have to check them? Should I just call TSA? If I carry them on do I have to pull them out at the xray machines (out of the carry on bag)?

you're actually not allowed to hold Zippo lighters or any style of lighter on the airplane. you are able to hold one Zippo lighter along with your checked bags. i think of there's a venture for persons that have various Zippos in checked bags.

I have travelled around Asia and Australia quite a bit over the past 2 years with a cigarette lighter in my hand luggage and never had a problem.
