why do a lot of churches tell people that humans have only existed for 5,000 years?

They say in churches that humans have only existed for 5,000 years and expect everyone to believe it. But Scientists have found human remains that are over 6 MILLION years old! This was a more recent discovery. However, back in 1974, they found skeletal remains of a woman that were at least 3 MILLION years old. But they still tell people in church that humans have only existed for 5,000 years. Why?

I know Science and religion often contradict each other, but why are some Christian churches still telling us that humans have only been around for 5,000 years, even after the discovery of older human remains?

The great, Egyptian Pyramids were built 5,000 years ago. That was way after the first humans. First they had to invent numbers, Math, Physics, Engineering, ways to cut and transport and cut large rocks, even the wheel had to be invented first. Not to mention Business Management skills and some form of money. The first humans to exist right after Adam and Eve didn't invent any of that stuff. It took Thousands of years to develop it all. Then they had to put it all together to make the huge Pyramids.

Some churches also say the Earth has only existed for 1 MILLION years or so. That to has been proven wrong. Science has proven the Dinosaurs lived for about 100 MILLION years and the Earth is around, at least 5 BILLION years old!

FOR THE RECORD: I love God and Jesus and I am non-denominational Christian.

But I still have a lot of questions about life in general.

You have been listening to too many evolutionary fairy tales!

Dinosaurs were created on day 6 along with all the other land animals, including Adam and Eve.

Those that think the dinosaurs died out millions of years ago are perhaps unaware of the large amount of evidence indicating that they lived recently alongside man.

There are many written accounts and depictions of dinosaurs.

    http://www.genesispark.com/exhibits/evidence/

Remember that the word dinosaur was invented in 1841. Before that people used names like dragon.

People from all over the world have accounts of dinosaurs: the Chinese who have incorporated it into their lunar calendar, The Welsh who have the dragon in their flag; The account of the Saxon Beowolf; The native american thunderbird; and other stories from many other nations. The Romans even made mosaics of them. The temple of Angkor in Cambodia has a carving that is clearly a Stegosaur – presumably 800 years ago it was a familiar animal to them. http://creation.com/angkor-saw-a-stegosaur

The Bible (the book of Job) has graphic descriptions of two creatures (Leviathan and Behemoth) which do not exists today and are almost certainly what we would now call dinosaurs. The Behemoth had a tail like a cedar tree.

In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word תנין , tanniyn, appears some 15 times—some

modern English translations translate it as ‘monster’, ‘serpent’ or ‘jackal’, while in

the King James Bible the word ‘dragon’ is used. Tanniyn could refer, at least in some

    contexts, to large reptiles/dinosaurs.

Furthermore, dinosaur fossils have even been found containing blood cells - hardly 65 million years old.

But check the evidence for yourself - don't by brainwashed by dogmatic evolutionists who don't want us to think for ourselves :)

A significant reason they've died out is most likely because they've been hunted to extinction - good old St George.

Australian Aborigines have long spoken of a frightening legendary creature they call a bunyip. They say the huge creature inhabits reedy swamps and creeks in parts of Australia. Its howl at night, and the stories of its abducting people and killing animals, have been enough to strike terror.

In the early days of settlement in Geelong, Victoria (Australia) in the mid-1800s, reports of the alleged discovery of bunyip bones sparked panic among the settlers.

The Geelong Advertiser newspaper reported in July 1845 that one of the bones found was shown to an Aboriginal who immediately claimed it was a bunyip bone. He was asked to draw the ‘bunyip’. The picture was taken to other Aborigines who had had no chance to communicate with each other, and each of them claimed independently that the bone and picture were of a bunyip.

The newspaper reported a number of alleged sightings of the bunyip. The description was of a creature that somewhat resembled an alligator and a bird. It stood about four metres (12 or 13 feet) high. The hind legs were said to be thick and strong, with the forelegs longer. It had long claws. In water it swam like a frog; on land it walked on its hind legs with its head erect. It was covered with different coloured scales, and laid pale blue eggs double the size of an emu’s egg. Its snout was like a duck’s bill.

We do not claim to explain this creature, but a drawing from the newspaper at the time, which was reprinted in the Geelong Advertiser on April 27, 1991, bears a strong resemblance to what are today known as duck-billed dinosaurs. And this news report of last century was 13 years before the first duck-billed dinosaur fossils were described.

Most evidence suggests that the earth is young.

It is important to note that all methods of estimating the age of the earth/universe involve unprovable assumptions about the past.

The only way we can know is by reading the account given to us by the only eye-witness - the Creator - in Genesis.

But we can use the scientific method, using observations that we all share in the present.

    Evidence for youth includes

The saltiness of the sea (would be saltier if old)

The decay of earth's magnetic field

    The recession of the moon

The existence of short lived comets (Oort cloud has been invented to try and explain them)

Too much helium in rocks (should have escaped by now)

The fact that 'old' continents have not eroded away already.

Much evidence for age is clearly faulty, and often involves radiometric dating. Rock from Mt St Helens volcano was dated as millions of years old when it is known to be just decades.

Diamonds contain carbon 14 when they 'shouldn't'.

First, there is nothing in the Bible about the Earth being 5000 years old. That length of time was suggested by Bishop Usher. What he did was add up the ages of people given in the genealogy in the Bible and arrive at 5000 years. It is a completely flawed way of calculating Bible History for the very simple reason that Jewish Historians were just like any historians back then, if some one was a jerk, they left him out of the records and never even mentioned him. How old 'is' the world? well we just do not know because we do not know exactly how God went about creating the present cosmos we see around us. Even without Bible history, the ancient past is a mystery. Some ancient astronomers do not mention Venus. When you remember how bright that planet is, it is a mystery why they never refer-ed to it. The figure you give of 5 Billion years is also pure fantasy, it is as much speculation as Usher's dates. All we know is around 15000 years ago, the Human race went through a radical and astonishing change. Modern man was created. Christians believe God created Man, so do Jews. Other people speculate visiting Aliens created a hybrid from existing humans to use as cheap labour for their farming and mining operations, all religions today are just 'Cargo Cults' clung onto by humans who long for a secure, but slave ridden past they add. Evolution is a discredited theory.

Mr. Reg believes that God is severely underestimated by what is often merely popularized Pseudoscience . Carefully imagine your task or even that of fifty generations is to invent numbers . Right after Adam and Eve is to misunderstand Adam and Eve . Whole cities existed extant with Adam and Eve . The builders of the pyramid had greater problems than knowing how to " cut and transport and cut large rocks " For example they needed minnie mouse with a miniature jackhammer ; laser guided , to cut up through the existing pyramid to line up with Draco the existing north star long ago . Both professional science and religion are at a loss to explain the Pyramid of Giza .

Those groups that say this are not recognized as Churches. I suggest only going to Churches recognized by the local Diocese. There are a lot of places that call themselves churches, yet are not. Contact the Diocese in your area for a list of Churches.

Those churches are ignorant of the flexibility for the history of the earth in the BIble. First of all, your commiting circular reasoning fallacies..You're assuming the earth is 3million years old to prove that it's not 5,000 years old lol. I've seen carbon dating records that are so inconsistent, they've said that fossils, in one test, are several hundred thousand years old, to saying they're a billion years old. Also, the human brain has degraded. The Egyptians were insanely genius. The math part of the pyramids didn't take long.

Christianity was created 2000 years ago when our knowledge of the universe was very limited. We now know how old Earth is and how it came into being, we no longer need these preposterous lies about our origins any longer.

A minority of churches teach that. The Bible never gives a date for the first humans, so they have no basis for the teaching.

  • People have only existed for a bit over 6000 years. I'll believe God before I believe flawed men. The difference is I put my faith in a perfect God while you put your faith in imperfect men. I'll stick with what I know and we see how things turn out soon.

I don't know. It's one of the reasons I'm an atheist and I refuse to go to any kind of church service.
