Is it safe to eat raw hamburger that has been left on the stove top in a pan full of greas?
I came home to a burger patty on the stove in the same pan that was used to cook the other burgers (since I came home late from work) the patty was covered but not sealed and it was swimmin in white solid grease. It had a dark red color as opposed to a fresh look. The image was appauling to me and I refused to eat it as it had alread been sitting there for 2 hours. Is it safe to eat somthing like that in this condition? What's safe handling for raw hamburger?

i would say no because it is raw not because "Grease has almost encased" i thaw my hamburger in hot water in my sink but the water turns cold and i leave it there for a few hours before dinner but it is in cold water so it keeps it fresher than just leaving it out

I would say no and here is the reason. You can, for the most part, eat raw beef all you want. Unless you are in the "at risk population" (the very old, the very young, and pregnant and nursing women... etc.) However it isn't recommended. If you do eat raw beef it should be kept within the "food safety zone" which is below 40 and above 140. Because the meat was mishandled in that it was kept between those 2 temperatures there is a chance it isn't safe. The bacteria would of been introduced after cooking. The grease wouldn't cause any problems with the food other than making it taste gross. i wouldn't eat it but if you heat it to above 140 and keep it there for at least a minute and you really want to eat it then do that.
