why do people belive obama will take weapons by force?

honestly ask yourself that? His Honorable wouldnt have to do that all he would have to do is have more weapons for gift cards turn ins. thousands turned out for the ones in LA. the greed of people will outweigh their attachments to their rights. he could step it up to money for weapons. force isnt the only way to change things....

People are very uneducated. There are still "birthers" out there who claim he's not a natural born citizen and that he's Muslim.

Like Forrest's mom used to say, stupid is as stupid does.

Some people are troubled or alarmed at how their personal rights have been over stepped the last several years by the federal government. Police no longer needing a search warrant to enter your home now for instance. Another is that you can now be arrested and detained without being charged with anything for a pretty long time and no legal recourse afterwords. A lot of these things are a result of the Homeland Defense Act and in this day and age of information sharing and data storage and retrieval law enforcement really has a lot of power to do things that they did not have the right to do twenty years ago because your rights precluded things like this.

They actually already have the power to confiscate any weapons in a home now and do when ever there is a question of domestic or family violence. You may get those back if you are not convicted of any charges like that but that is an example of how things have now changed and your rights are no longer guaranteed in the same way they once were.

As for giving up guns for money the guns I own I have for justifiable reasons and would not just turn them in for some cash. There have been break-ins, home invasions, rapes, and robberies less than four blocks from my home. I live less then three miles from one of the highest crime areas in the US with more murders per capita than anywhere in the world. The traffic that transits from that area through the area I live in is largely the problem-not the people who live here.

I'll keep my guns as long as the police have a need for theirs and have them is what I say. You don't have to worry about me going nuts and doing someone in but woe to anyone that is stupid enough to break into my home while my wife or I are there or is stupid enough to try and rob me while I am outside mowing my yard, taking out the trash, or washing my car in my driveway.

I totally agree. In fact, there was a case just a couple of weeks ago where a city was offering cards for guns...an older woman brought in a rifle her late husband had brought back from WWII. Fortunately for her, the two officers who were running the program recognized it for what it was and told her she had an extremely rare Nazi rifle that was worth well over $20,000.

abaddon- you never cease to amaze me....

honest reason? fox news, rush limbaugh, etc. pretty much anyone who's career has to benefit from making things up instead of looking at facts. and of course the people so dedicated to their political party that, even when faced with facts, still choose to believe a lie they've been told. Never mind the fact that he has actually expanded gun owners rights (such as legalizing carry in national parks) and hasn't done anything to hinder them.
